I'm beginning to think Shkreli wasn't of natural birth but instead emerged slathered in snot goo from a pus-filled womb sustained by injections of heavy doses of this century's idocracy.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-10

Show some compassion, dude's got one of the worst cases of affluenza I've ever seen and is clearly terminal at this point.

fedex - 2016-02-10

I think you meant 'sociopath'

infinite zest - 2016-02-10

Yaeh Shkreli's talked before about his lower middle class upbringing, so really it's his kids who will inheret the affluenza if he decides to breed. I hope by then some prostitute has bitten his ding dong off during fellatio so that'll never happen tho.

So he's not from the mean streets of Brooklyn any more than I'm from the mean streets of lower middle class Portland. He's just some little white brat who watched too much Scarface and listened to too much Wu Tang, thinking "I can do that too."

EvilHomer - 2016-02-10

The sad thing is, IZ: Shrek was right. He grew up listening to music about making money in the drug game by any means possible - and that is exactly what he's doing today.

He is, quite literally, living the gangsta rap lifestyle. The only difference between Shkreli and Ghostface: Shkreli was smarter about it, and is a hell of a lot better at it.

infinite zest - 2016-02-10

Yeah I've said it before: Shrek's a genius. And I've also said that he did in one fell swoop what big pharma's been doing over time for decades. But it's his attitude towards what he did that pisses me off, especially when he is now the face of the evil of Pharmaceuticals instead of what you'd picture as a whole bunch of Half Life NPCs. What pisses me off is that he took full credit for it, like being a douche is a way to get people to like you. And it's not. Everybody from his old friends from his record label (who dropped the label) to the very people he gave 2 million dollars from (not to mention the general public) hate him, and he revels in it.

And it's not like other companies do this too: Apple puts required software updates out all the time which are designed to consume more and more battery life, especially for older phones. The solution? Get a new iPhone, or have fun watching your battery go from 100%-40% in a 2 minute conversation. And gas stations in the middle of nowhere have higher gas prices than more populated areas, because you don't have much of a choice. It's.. called.. I dunno something that starts with a "C." But at this point the only "C" that Shkreli gets associated with is "Cunt."

SolRo - 2016-02-10

Sorry, but hedge fund managers aren't geniuses. They're regular, sometimes dumb, sociopaths that know how to manipulate people and a couple financial tricks.

We'll see how it works out for him once his ponzy scheme court case gets to trial

infinite zest - 2016-02-10

Yeah it depends on your definition really. I meant he's a genius at what he set out to do. I'm sure that IQ wise we're probably all higher, yet I can't really wrap my brain around a hedge fund any more than I could the stock market or even basic accounting.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

You know, things like the peer reviewed, research demonstrating its effectiveness for reversing some forms of brain damage:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21654550

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

Or the fairly recent studies demonstrating its basically unprecedented effectiveness in reducing tumor mass in certain forms of cancer, in particular brain tumors (what Ghostface's sister uses it for):

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

Those were supposed to be replies to the other thread.

Binro the Heretic - 2016-02-10

Do you see this, Mr. Shkrelli.

This is how you adult.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-02-10

am i the only one not impressed with the drunken HIV riddled hags bloo bloo blooing before turning around and plugging the shit out of the stupid chintzy vape BS

EvilHomer - 2016-02-10

Yeah, I'm not so sure you can ever "adult" by responding to an early-90s rap feud video with one of your own, let alone one which rapidly devolves into an infomercial.

If Mr Ghostface wanted to be an "adult", there are plenty of things he could have done besides this. He could, for example, have organized a benefit concert on behalf of families who can't afford healthcare. He could have responded with a polite, professional letter from his lawyers, informing Mr Shkreli about harassment and defamation laws. And if he really felt the need make a parody video, then maybe he could have done it with some actual grown-up "goons" - say, executives from two or three rival drug companies who *aren't* gouging prices and would love to take a nice meaty chunk out of Turing Pharmaceutical's market share.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-02-10

thank you homie. the sad thing is if he did a concert its likely no one would come, i went to a ghostface show in austin in 2009 or so and, like most wu tang shows, he expected the crowd to rap all the lyrics for them. also he came on like THREE FUCKING HOURS LATE. fuck dennis

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-02-10

also its not even an online shop for the woo goo its a fucking KICKSTARTER type thing, truly pathetic. has anyone heard this dude try to rap lately? he sounds like shit, his rhymes are shit. GZA and Raekwon are about the only ones who still hold half a chance at filling a 100 seat venue a third of the way

infinite zest - 2016-02-10

I went to go see Mark Lanegan some years ago and just minutes from when he was supposed to come on some guy told the audience that he had just checked into rehab. So.. that kinda sucked too, especially since nobody got their 12 dollars back. But bringing music into it is kind of a moot point since Shkreli hasn't done shit.

And I'll say that Ghost making this about his own non-FDA approved magic snakeoil is kinda shitty, but hell if I don't use non-FDA approved multivitamins all the time to combat my anaemia since I'm a vegan. Hell, if you want a quick fix when you're feeling like shit, go to the store and pick up a big thing of saurkraut for 3.99. It's a proven probiotic which is really good for you and will make you feel better when you're sick. Or, go to the health food store and spend 40 bucks on a little bottle that does the same thing. There's all sorts of stuff like that, so I'd cut him a break.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

Actually there's a whole lot of research supporting the medical use of CBD:

http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/medical/cannabid.htm

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

And that's a pretty out of date list, so you're not even getting the studies from the last 15 years or so.

infinite zest - 2016-02-11

Yeah definitely. I don't use "snakeoil" in a negative way necessarily, just anything that works (as a placebo or via proven studies) that doesn't get FDA approval, and there's plenty of Dr. OZ's out there (not you OZ) who straddle that line with what they're selling. In Ghost's case that wasn't the intention, but there've been Holistic cancer treatments, like you said, for decades and decades so bringing that up when discussing a different medicine that doesn't help with AIDS treatment is a little off-topic, but oh well.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-11

Yeah, I actually think I was conflating your response with a different post, yours is pretty reasonable (and yeah, the infomercial aspect was slightly tacky but also pretty funny).

spikestoyiu - 2016-02-10

At least Shkreli's overpriced medication works. This is a nearly 12 minute commercial for bullshit woo that will only serve to turn people away from effective cancer treatments. So who's worse?

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-02-10

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-02-10

point goes to Shkrelli.

-look at ghostface's shitty apartment setup.

-shilling vape products like the last stop for most washed up rappers, short of just walking around downtown manhattan with a backpack full of stolen cell phones or something like they found Lil Cease doing in the mid aughts. i remember ed lover trying to hawk some bullshit "cmon son" themed vape. must be like a 1,000 dollar buy in or something.

-after bronsolinio this looks like it will be the final nail in ghosts coffin

EvilHomer - 2016-02-10

So did anyone ever check into that "5,000%" story, look at the numbers to confirm or debunk the arguments which Shkreli made in his defense?

jimmyboblahey - 2016-02-11

Shrekli made money killing faggots. You have to respect that.
