Pretty sure poetv loves making fun of crap conservative comedians, as in 'NewsBusted'.

SolRo, do you have something you want to get off your chest?

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-02-16

You're comparing this guy and this routine to George Carlin?

Are you sure you're not a hyperbole android conservatives from the future sent back in time to make progressives all look stupid?

That guy - 2016-02-16

sounds about right

SolRo - 2016-02-16

Not comparing to carlin.

Just giving an example of the precious cultural heritage that must be preserved from the PC "totalitarian" state that could well be on its way!

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

"I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death my right to censor it."

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

My own theory is that Mr SolRo is either a) angry and misguided, or b) a paid disinformation agent working for the Russian State Department.

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-02-16

I understand that this sort of nuance is way above your head SolRo... but there's a huge difference between people getting their panties in a twist over an openly bigoted act, and those same people freaking out over "trigger words" REGARDLESS OF THE CONTEXT THAT THEY ARE USED IN.

Nobody wants the government to force college students to listen to comedy acts they don't like. It's commentary on how even well-meaning people with laudable goals can lack critical thinking skills (which you should be able to appreciate given what a cartoon character you are), and how some people's attitudes towards free speech have been taking a dark turn lately.

And don't pretend like posting this video isn't some lame switcheroo you did to try and explain why you're right about this.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-16

You mean "triggers." "Trigger words" is a different thing, you're mixing up your Internet culture war terms with your illuminati NWO mind control terms.

"Trigger words" are phrases used to trigger posthypnotic suggestions and activate mind controlled sleeper agents and things, although in the non-batship world the term has come to be applied generally to words or phrases that are understood to mean something specific by their target audience while maintaining a level of plausible deniability, shorthand essentially. Like how "family values" is code for "NO GAYS." That's the most common way it's used nowadays and was more or less how I was using it in that other thread I suspect this is a reference to.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-16

Which is not to say I don't agree with the rest of your post.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

In fairness to Mr Monkey, MKUltra was a real project, and the "trigger words" meme wasn't invented by batshit people, it was pushed on the Cold War public by Hollywood.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-16

This promotes Islamophobia and transphobia. NOT FUNNY.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

Both subjects can be funny, given the right contexts and the right delivery. Dunham's not really up to the challenge, but remember Cena, NotAllRacistComedians etc.

What I find most trouble about Dunham's work is how it reinforces the idea that Islamic terrorism is a genuine threat to Western society, rather than a largely illusory product of the security-industrial complex, meant to scare the divided underclasses and keep scrutiny away from the powers that be. Where is the bit in which Achmed the Dead Terrorist discusses Color Revolutions, receiving arms from Benghazi, or his close personal connections with Graham Fuller and Operation Gladio-B? Achmed could be a force for Good, but instead he's wasting his time making topical celebrity jokes about Angelina Jolie.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-16

"topical"

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

Is Ms Jolie not topical anymore? At any rate, I imagine she was topical at the time this show was recorded.

I imagine.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

I don't know, SolRo, I think it's more a function of why you "hate" this, and how this hate manifests itself. If you hate this because it challenges your political beliefs, and because of this HATE, are looking for ways to silence and marginalize Dunham and his fans, then yes SolRo you might be correct, you might indeed be a fascist. If, on the other hand, you simply *dislike* Dunham's work, on the entirely subjective grounds that you, personally, find it to be neither funny nor interesting - in that case, I'd have a hard time seeing any problems.

Also, what's with you hating on SJWs today, Mr Ro? Did someone get in a condescending argument with you about Russia's mistreatment of homosexuals?

jfcaron_ca - 2016-02-16

No that's bullshit. You are allowed to dislike (and even hate) a work or an artist for reasons beyond the artistic quality. You are even allowed to make fun of people who like said artist, even just for political reasons. Refusing to engage with the world in a political way IS A POLITICAL ACT.

Adham Nu'man - 2016-02-16

"EVERYTHING IS EITHER BLACK OR WHITE" - SolRo, the Colorblind Crusader

That guy - 2016-02-16

51% - 99% -> 100%
1%-49% -> 0%
50% -> undefined

SolRo - 2016-02-16

Doesn't carry much of a punch from Mr. 'PC people are a regime change away from a ruthless totalitarian police state controlling our thoughts'

Adham Nu'man - 2016-02-16

Fair point, but in my view it's still ridiculous for Liberals to be attacking clearly progressive comedians for using a "no no" word or two during their act, when it is clearly preponderantly pushing a progressive agenda.

Achmed and Achmedina is obviously bigoted unfunny shite. While you're not obligated to like Carlin or Louis CK, their acts are not trying to move the world towards a more conservative state.

SolRo - 2016-02-16

I think part of the problem is said comdians whining publicly about what is fundamentally a business problem.

They used to do well on college campuses but now that views have changed (notice the whining is from old comedians) they don't do as well and maybe get more hecklers. They could have just stopped doing those shows in favor of more friendly venues or tailored the show to the audience, but instead threw a bit of a hissy fit about "PC culture" destroying their "art" and quit publicly.

I'm sure there are plenty of venues that center left comedians don't go to, like in the Deep South, but they haven't turned that into some kind of rallying cry against "censorship".

SolRo - 2016-02-16

In short, it's comedians attacking liberals because some trustafarian leftist college kids hurt their feelings, not the other way around.

Nominal - 2016-02-16

Oh, SolRo.

Pop quiz: You're stuck in a room with the next Hitler and someone who hates your favorite anime. You have a gun with only one bullet. WHAT DO YOU DO?

Doc Victor - 2016-02-16

Grumble petulantly about how I'd really like to save it for my moms Jewish boyfriend after he threw away my sailor moon dolls? Resort to some childish name calling? Use it on myself to escape the reality of my mediocre existence as an overweight wage slave?

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-16

Realize that Hitler did not act in isolation and killing him would have changed but not prevented the events of WWII?

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-16

Wait, never mind, it's SolRo we're talking about.

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

I'm not aware if Solro is an anime fan, or hates it but has guilty pleasure choices, but I feel as if nominal is using the oppurtunity to feel comfort. So I will counter that with my own assumption!

Okay Solro, you're trapped in an elevator with the next Hitler, you can if you choose to, to imagine Trump or some plain clothes douche who has the media's eye.

Who do you make out with?

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

Also Nominal is there. Did I mention that? I did, dion't I?

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

SolRo enjoys anime, but he has very strange, obscure picks; somewhat akin to Caminante, minus the lolis. (or maybe he just keeps his lolis on the d/l, I dunno)

Is the plain clothes douche a male douche, or a female douche?

EvilHomer - 2016-02-16

Same question with Next Hitler, because if Next Hitler is some statuesque Aryan model, I will make out with her.

Nominal - 2016-02-16

Comfort? Oh my!

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

Nominal? Oh my!

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

For Evilhomer, both Nominal and Next Hitler are statuesque female models. The prequisite is that you can live with yourself after going down on them both, which would validate them enough to make their next political move.

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

While I'm waiting for my appointment, here are some jokes about Nominal, for Nominal, approved by Nominal.

Nominal is walking down the street and is hit in the head with a brick.

The end.

Shoebox Joe - 2016-02-16

Nominal is eating a sandwich when stabbed to death.

15th - 2016-02-16

I once was blind, but now I can see.
