I'll give it credit for having more actual jokes in the trailer than any "____ Movie" does in the entire film. Maybe not good ones, but attempts at jokes at least.

There's something about timing that makes a parody good. For example, Spaceballs came out 5 years after Return of the Jedi, when Star Wars mania was (probably) at its lowest until the remastered ones were announced. On the other hand, 50 Shades of Black came out a year too late, and might've been a little funny if it beats 50 Shades of Grey to the theatres. In The Purge's case, I know there are sequels but for the most part people just remember the one from 4 years ago, so it's not necessarily on peoples' minds. If this plays it cool and avoids pop culture references, it could be funny in that Hot Fuzz sort of way, which as we all know was a white parody of Bad Boys.

But probably not.

Probably better than the purge- and definitely looks a better attempt at parody than we've had in years (Scary Movie franchise etc)

I was 16 when it came out, but the original Scary Movie was pretty funny to me back then. I have to go to a lot of movies for work (I get in for free) and this will probably be one of them so I'm trying to remain optimistic. You CAN pay me to see this shit is good enough for me :)

I haven't seen The Purge, but I did watch the trailer.

I also have not seen Meet the Blacks in its entirety, but The Purge looks fucking stupid and would have probably benefited from being like this.
