Haha, I get it. They chose to use a song "about colors because there aren't any in this trailer.

I'm not even passed the Gargoyle boss in the first one.

I gave up at the Capra Demon. I love the world they created and the sense of scale of some of those big motherfuckers but I just couldn't put up with the frustration of replaying the same areas over and over again to pass a boss. The one redeeming feature of DS was the ability to mod the YOU DIED to THANKS OBAMA.

I usually just play one or two lives a day, so I don't get too frustrated about it. But it is a hell of a game.

Dark Souls, like XCOM, is plagued by an inverted difficulty curve: the beginning of the game is by far the hardest part. As you power up your character, you gradually gain the ability to fly through levels on the first or second attempt. Actually, the prequel to Dark Souls, called Demon's Souls, used this fact to its narrative advantage. By the end of the game you had gone from a scrappy underdog to a mighty hero, then wildly overshot to become an overpowered monster in your own right. The game ended with you beating the shit out of a helpless pool of black ichor, for no other reason than you were hungry for even more souls. The demon is you!

Dark Souls lacked this narrative coherence, but good god it was a wonderful RPG. Never played the sequels... I hope Bloodborne comes out on PC someday.

Those are still tutorial bosses, really. They're trying to teach you how to roll, and the importance of hit and run tactics vs trying to stand around and slug it out.

They can be the most frustrating bosses in the game at the same time, though, yes. Don't feel too bad about having trouble with them. They were hard for pretty much everybody.

The Gargoyles took me about 30+ tries on my first Belmont run.

Fucking Madworld.

I will be playing the fuck out of this, just like all Souls games. But man, it's going to be hard to go back to plain Souls after Bloodborne. I loved the trick weapons and the gun mechanics so damn much. It added just the right amount of arcade-style play while totally keeping the feel and difficulty of a Souls game.

From everything I've heard, the combat in DSIII will be very "Bloodbourne-esque"in that it will be a lot quicker. Haven't heard much about missile weapons, spells, etc.

Shit you took my comment, it is going to be very hard to get back into the swing of the slow defensive play of bloodsouls, as it took me forever to get into the frantic offensive play of bloodborne. Also bloodborne was just so goddamn streamlined in the best way possible, and not as intimidating when it came to choosing a weapon or class to commit to.

I guess shields will be nice to have again.

Oh wow I wonder if this one will give every enemy a perfect homing attack as a substitute for actual game design.
