Should have a Hopper-themed cafe: Nighthawks.

I want to open a dog cafe where none of the male dogs are neutered and spend all their time humping each other and diners' legs and shitting on the floor and then eating it.

I read that as "I went to an open dog cafe..."

I went to a different one in in Japan; compared to cat cafes these felt more exploitative of the animals. Housecats at cat cafes are generally cool just doing there thing with strangers around, the owls really didn't suit the same vibe. We paid for the hour, but we had had enough well before that hour was up.

Yeah owls seem like a really bad choice, they are wild birds. housecats are domesticated pets.

You've heard the stories about how cats at cat cafes routinely die and are replaced by lookalikes, right?

They're a good idea in theory, though, I guess.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-27
By "routinely die" do you mean they live very short life spans at the cafes? Do they not take proper care of them?

badideasinaction - 2016-02-27
Oh, I'm sure there's some bad cat cafes out there, given how many there are. At the good ones it's pretty evident; the cats always have places to go to if they're not up for human interaction and the cats are kept on shifts to keep them from being constantly bothered. They've been exposed to so many people they're pretty much over them - they're not super affectionate, but they're cool with being petted and like to chase the occasional thing. Also it appeared the cats all have their claws so it's not like they've been rendered powerless and there's very clear things saying "don't bother the cats; they will bite and scratch if they're unhappy".

The one I've been to a couple of times was a place where the owner said "I had so many cats I needed an excuse for my wife to keep them, so I opened a cafe".

What is Bohemian Grove but the original Owl Cafe?

Exotic pet cafes are a horrible idea, so 5 for evil.

Owls are weird.
Maggot Brain - 2016-02-27
At what point did the word cafe stop meaning "cafe" and started to mean "petting zoo?"
cognitivedissonance - 2016-02-27
Japan.

This is cruel. The metal weights on their ankles to and straps keeping them tied to their perches made me feel genuinely sad for them. They're not domesticated. They don't want human company.

5 stars for evil, etc.
