Of course Bort would post this. More victim blaming from the DNC.
Bort - 2016-03-03
Kind of sucks how elections have consequences, doesn't it?

Nominal - 2016-03-03

kingarthur - 2016-03-03
AMazing how a management class (Democrats) can't seem to understand that mobilizing people to vote for the interests of the management class turns the fucking workers off and leads to what happened in 2010.

Bort - 2016-03-03
You don't get to call yourself the victim if you saw a Teabagger wave coming and, rather than vote against them, you held the door open for them. There were victims of the 2010 election all right, but you aren't one of them. You helped CREATE the victims; hope you were paid well for your assistance.

kingarthur - 2016-03-03
You know that guilt-tripping bullshit doesn't work on most people anymore, right?

kingarthur - 2016-03-03
Hey! Did you know that my choosing to vote for Jill Stein in the 2012 election is responsible for the near total abandonment of Mississippi by the modern-day Democratic Party in 2010 and the ENTIRE Tea Party wave sweeping into the White House in that year's Congressional election? Yep, you're right. My refusing to vote for the lesser evil and vote Democrat caused all that bullshit. Me, just me, right here. Not the rightward shift of the DNC and their derision towards their left wing base and working class voters. I will appropriately flog myself now in an approximation of the Catholic guilt the Democrats are trying to impose on me for not falling for their bullshit yet another time. Never mind that even if I had wanted to vote for a Democrat, last Congressional election there was no Democrat to vote for. Fuck these people. I'm tempted to write in Captain fucking Howdy on the ballot just out of fucking spite.

kingarthur - 2016-03-03

I will be proactive and voting for the alternative: Jill Stein.

Old_Zircon - 2016-03-03
It's only tangentially related but I'm going to leave this here because it's very good and everyone on Poe-news should read it.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-03-04
Thanks OZ! That was a wonderfully informative read, and with the added bonus of reinforcing my suspicion that things will only get worse for the foreseeable future!

Sexy Duck Cop - 2016-03-04
Whenever someone tells me they "vote with their conscience" all I hear is jerk off sounds. Because that's all it is: self-congratulation at the expense of accomplishing anything.

Okay, but just so we're really really really clear about this: Voting for a third party accomplishes nothing. Literally nothing. Nobody listens. Nobody cares. Your vote functionally does not exist. You affect more societal change posting comments in one of the circlejerk police brutality videos.

You can try to reframe this any way you want. Reality doesn't give a fuck. Your candidates are not elected, and the idea that your vote for a losing candidate sends any kind of "message" is ridiculous and naive on every conceivable level.

I don't know how I can dumb this down anymore.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-03-04
In a real world with competing interest, politics is always going to be about compromises. And when the compromises are worked out, you know who gets left out? The uncompromising. But we all admire your conviction.

Anybody who can't figure out why people should bother to vote Democrat needs to watch the video again.

Sometimes the only reason to vote is to block the Republicans. Don't think that's reason enough? Watch that video 1 more time.

kingarthur - 2016-03-04

If you vote for a third party candidate enough of the time, eventually they get a high enough percentage of the popular vote to guarantee ballot access for the party in future elections.

YOU ARE *NOT* THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY and anyone that tells you different has a vested interest in being a dick.

Honestly, that is the only way to bust the two party system we have in this country without smashing some fucking heads.

It is a LONG and SLOW process. It takes TIME. DON'T GIVE UP.

kingarthur - 2016-03-04
You know what I got to help accomplish in my very first election?

Getting the fucking Green Party on the ballot in fucking Mississippi!

By getting out the vote for a third party.

But I'm sure you'll just go ahead and blame me for the Bush presidency now.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-03-04
Maybe you should have named yourself donquixote instead.

memedumpster - 2016-03-03
I love Samantha Bee.
She's like my parallel universe Newsbusted announcer fell into our dimensions.
Oscar Wildcat - 2016-03-03
..or that dude with the flaming asshole graphic burning away behind him, what was his name?

The laugh track. Good god, the laugh track.

memedumpster - 2016-03-03
I don't know who that is, but it sounds amazing!

Cena_mark - 2016-03-03
Giving the 2010 elections to the GOP was almost as dumb as handing over the Daily Show to Trevor Noah.

memedumpster - 2016-03-03
Don't be cynical, both are hilarious.

Serious, you didn't like Trevor Noah's "Trump could be our first African president" segment? I thought it was great.

Cena_mark - 2016-03-03
I haven't really seen any of Noah's stuff, but the ratings are down and people say he sucks.

GQ - 2016-03-03
Oscar: She doesn't have a laugh track, she has a live audience

GQ - 2016-03-03
Unless you meant NewsBusted/flaming asshoel whatever

memedumpster - 2016-03-04
"people say he sucks"

Cena, humans are the quantifiably least environmentally aware rockest stupidest animals in nature.

You should probably watch it and make up your own mind. You wouldn't let EivelHoemier run you away from Stephen Universe would you?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-03-04
Love Ms Bee, but the 90s MTv vibe really harshes my mellow.

Trevor Noah isn't John Stewart, but he's okay, and putting an African in the anchor chair was genius. It really adds adds a broader

Her delivery is cringeworthy and her presentation style is a blatant ripoff, but I just can't find it in myself to hate a lady who met her husband while she was playing Sailor Moon in a fair stage show.
MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2016-03-03
Calm your smug-tits.
Caminante Nocturno - 2016-03-03
I'm more than a little disappointed that a bunch of people from The Daily Show went on to become obnoxious pundits, especially considering all of the well-deserved shit they gave Fox News during the Bush years. Everything I've seen from Samantha Bee's show is particularly bad. I don't remember her being this obnoxious in the Daily Show.
Nominal - 2016-03-04
Whatever happened to the adorable Beth Littleford?

somedongus - 2016-03-04
I was always kind of partial to Nancy Wells myself. Fucking Carrel.
