That would be trying to violate the system, and even if it gave us an excellent president this time, the same maneuver could give us a tyrant next time.

I don't want to say it's dying primarily due to not have been here in the early days, but also due to the wonton anger/disgust tied with it.
But the best summary I can give is that the people desperate for whatever validation cling the hardest and loudest, while the people who made the website are busy doing other things since, really, they followed through on a thing so there's no point in stopping. All the people who saw a spark of interest have left after having their fill and moved on to a different part of their life or have died.

i think the idea of calling it "privilege" is to connote that white males/other privileged groups have the privilege of not being denied rights?

and there are examples of privilege that are almost like cognitive biases, but based around race, gender, sexuality, class, etc. for instance, asking a person of color where they are from, implying (without meaning to, usually) that they are obviously not from 'here'. or saying 'i choose the best candidate for the job' ignores the oppression of people who might be quite capable for the position, but don't have the resume as a privileged candidate due to discrimination/lack of opportunity.

in these examples, "prejudice" or "bias" is not particularly illustrative or helpful, because the bias is usually unconscious, and not malicious. 'privilege' means we are privileged to not be confronted with these seemingly small issues on a near-constant basis.

"Privilege" isn't quite the right word, because the problem isn't that whites are getting perks beyond what is fair, it's that non-whites aren't getting basic fairness. As an example, when it comes to the racial disparities in police shootings, the problem isn't that whites aren't getting shot enough, it's that non-whites are getting shot too much.

So it's not "white privilege" so much as "non-white mistreatment" but that really doesn't sing.
