I think I have a waifu.

Old_Zircon - 2016-04-25 I'm talking about that Buchla Music Easel, obviously.

SolRo - 2016-04-25 Go pitch that shit to an anime studio. Cute girl synths is going to be the next big thing in anthropomorphized inanimate objects!
|
|
SolRo - 2016-04-25 I just think with hatsune miku being so big, any studio would jump at the chance to throw about 2 or 3 dozen spin-off characters at the wall to see what sticks.

That is literally what Hatsune Miku is tho https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatsune_Miku
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-04-26 I can't find evidence of any HARDWARE synthesizer moe anthropomorphism, but I did learn that there's FL-chan:

Hatsune Miku kind of doesn't count for me since the character and the software were more or less developed together.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-04-26 Never mind, Deviantart to the rescue

As much as I love this shit (analog synths, etc.), I have to admit I am kinda glad that you can get reasonably similar similar results from equipment these days that does not involve the nightmare of routing patch cables. I've tried one of the soft-synth versions of the Moog modulars where you can set it up via the old-fashioned way and do the manual patches yourself and I feel like I am trying to solve a Myst puzzle or something. Interesting and rewarding and I have nothing but respect for people who did/do use those kinds of synths, but it is not for me.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-04-26 Software modulars that are made to look like hardware are really clunky, having to d all the patching on a little screen with a mouse kind of defeats the purpose, better to use a software synth that actually uses the computer to do something you COULDN'T do with hardware.
I'd love a big hardware modular if I could have one, though, they're really fun.

Yeah. Yep.
Early 80's girls doing sciencey music stuff while talking kinda slowly so kids can follow and because they're a bit high.
Doesn't get any hotter than that.
|
chumbucket - 2016-04-25 The other great advantage of this is that it's 1980, well before the onslaught of vocal fry.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-04-25 Also: obesity was a fairly rare outlier back then, rather than the norm which it is today.
