I had forgotten that they named all their stupid flash-in-the-pan dances back then. Oh, white people. Was there any time period when you didn't suck?

Killer Joe - 2016-04-20

You needed to have songs about the dance that described how to do the dance back then. I think at the time it was a pretty standard thing across the races. Though to be honest, "racial identity of dance in the 60s" wasn't my major.

One day old people will be watching VR videos of the Macarena, the Bernie, Gangnam Style, Star Wars Kid, Treadmill Choreography, Hampster Dance, and all the other dumb dances from our time.

Old_Zircon - 2016-04-20

So, like, 2018?

memedumpster - 2016-04-20

Hell no, Christmas.

2018 is when it wont have side effects.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-20

"Our time"? Kids doing the Bernie today have moms who did the Macarena before they were born.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-20

In fact, the Macarena is now almost as old as the Monkey was back when the Macarena was hip and new.

What's more, the only dances in your list that are anywhere near contemporary are the Bernie and the Gangnam Style, both of which (according to Know Your Meme) peaked in popularity around 2012. That was FOUR years ago, meme; maybe the orderlies need to let you out of the nursing home more often!

His name IS memedumpster, ya know...

memedumpster - 2016-04-21

I just got sassed by a 1990's Internet Simpsons reference.

Dumpster's open all night!

EvilHomer - 2016-04-21

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not sassing you, Old-Meme Dumpster. It is what it is! I'm just pointing out the incongruity with using the Macarena and the Star Wars Kid (which technically isn't even a dance) as examples of contemporary dance.

This reminded me of that scene in A Hard Day's Night where the Beatles are at a nightclub (listening to their own song!) and a tall skinny dude starts pogoing. He ended up being the creator of Are You Being Served. And that's the end of my story
