Old_Zircon The tits are pointed parody of the state of BBC comedy at the time, this video just takes them out of context. If anything this guy is a precursor to stuff like The Dangerous Brothers, and also one of the earliest openly gay TV personalities I know of.
Oscar Wildcat Oh no: tits were a pretty essential part of that show, at least from what I remember. Those dancers appeared in every episode, he's poking some fun at his own show as much as others. It was also the only way to see music videos at the time outside of cable. But for BVS's benefit, the hook was the music videos and the fact that he would often produce new stuff with guests, like this.
That bit at the beginning is just beautiful: best use of "breaking the fourth wall" evah! Blasting right off into the asylum...following from his horror at the recognition of being on a stage. David was just too clever for pop songs.
Old_Zircon Yeah, I've got a lot of patience for this kind of humor
blue vein steel i mean, i appreciate the subversion and showing music videos for the time period. That is cool. It's more that his jokes just didn't land for me. A lot of it is kind of the Poe's Law of comedy. At what point does a satire of bad comedy just become bad comedy?
