Exiting the era of beautiful hand drawn 2d, entering the era of butt ugly 3d.
Mid to late 90s was a really shit time in gaming. When sprites still looked way better yet everyone insisted they HAD to all go 3D.
3D wouldn't stop being shit until the early 00s, sometime between Max Payne and Half Life 2.
Worms, Mechwarrior 2, Full Throttle. Everything else sucked.
I liked all of the above, but have a few additions. Descent, Hexen, Dark Forces, Command & Conquer, The Dig, Warcraft II.
I played many of the others, but they weren't that good. I wanted to like Bioforge, Terminator Future Shock, and Fade to Black, but... ugh.
I tried playing The Dig for the first time recently after hearing for 20 years how it was one of the most amazingest classic adventure games ever.
Really did not like it. Quit after less than 2 hours. Impossible puzzles and a boring barely there story.
Holy shit though how fucking mindblowing was it to first play Command & Conquer?

I didn't play a ton of games in the second half of the 90s.
Or are we strictly limiting this to '95? Becasue most of the stuff I was playing seems to have been from '94 or '96.
Let's not forget Tie Fighter.
