I'm having trouble deciding who between her and John Oliver is more annoying, or if I'm racist for not also factoring in how annoying Larry Wilmore is.
I like John Oliver except when he stoops to "take time to out of the way for a really painful joke" parts, which he seems to do just because Jon Stewart (whom I did not like) did it, which comes off as Leno monologue grade humor.
stewart is charlotte the spider and he shit out a bunch of unfunny babies in his memory, very fitting
Are you guys going through that midlife crisis/shift to the right that most stupid people do around your age?
it's a style thing for me not some obnoxious political perspective
Amy Goodman's retarded sister.
I've never liked John Stewart much, but I like a lot of the people who came out of the Daily Show (which I stopped watching for YEARS when he took over back in the 90s with his Fonz jacket and "I'm hip to the youth of today" try hard swagger). I've come to respect him but I never get much out of watching him.
Colbert was great until he got popular enough that his guests always knew it was an act.
"Are you guys going through that midlife crisis/shift to the right that most stupid people do around your age?"
Well it's true that Nocty's more openly rightwing these days, but he has been remarkably consistent with his one-starring of women with opinions (see how he one-starred all of the "Target Women" videos back when they were universally liked here. This was way before antiwomen- I mean, antiSJW backlash was a thing.
This is physically painful to sit through.
That's why I chose to not even watch!
Meanwhile in a parallel universe...
... I should add until North Carolina lets trans people urinate in peace I will not stop reminding them that their craft beers are piss and inspire pissing equally in everyone.
That was the only joke.
Counterpoint: Samantha Bee is great.
Bort's the fuckin' worst, tho.
Yeah, sometimes her jokes bomb, but it's not like Jon's set was always infallible. He blew like two or three jokes per episode. But it didn't matter because he was still amazing overall.
(in fairness, though, Stewart is REALLY good at pivoting when a joke bombs and turning the failure into its own gag. Bee isn't very good at that, at least not yet.)
Out of the various Stewart successors, I like Larry Wilmore the best, but I like how Sam Bee seems to be taking the most chances out of all of them. Her show is still finding its footing but it has amazing potential.
"Nobody else speaks FUCK YOU to power quite like this."
Counterpoint: she's on cable TV. She IS power, don't you forget it.
John Stewart's brother was a Wall Street executive and he still tried to sell himself as a too-cool-for-school outsider who fought the power with pointed jokes. It's just something that left-leaning media personalities. If they admit that they're part of the power structure, their narrative falls apart.
So then Reagan is a lying shit bag because he had a gay leftist son.
(when actually he's just a lying shit bag regardless and family members aren't necessarily a reflection of your core beliefs)
It doesn't hold at all that anyone with money -- or is related to anyone with money -- is the enemy or sympathizes with the 1%. It's more than possible for even a rich person to want society to be fairer.
Even Bernie's wife got a 0,000 severance package when she resigned from the presidency of Burlington College. Does that mean Bernie's sympathies lie with the 1%?
Bad comedians are to the left what people like Coulter and Beck are to the right.
John Holmes Motherfucker

Okay, please someone explain to me how this Tea Party/Sanders/Trump bullshit actually makes logical sense.
John Holmes Motherfucker
>>>Bad comedians are to the left what people like Coulter and Beck are to the right.
REALLY? Tell me something that Samantha Bee is saying here (or anywhere) that isn't true. Because SAYING THINGS THAT AREN'T REMOTELY TRUE the big problem with Coulter and and Beck.
I apologize for lumping Sanders with Trump and the tea party just now. I don't think this applies to Bernie so much as his fanboys.
>> Nobody else speaks FUCK YOU to power quite like this.
I'm beginning to think you really believe this, John.
Samantha Bee is the ghost from Unfriended.
"Who here never didn't vote for Hillary!?"
What I am saying is that both groups feed their audiences their opinions back to them and frame the world in a comfortingly sophomoric way.
Another thing they have in common is that their audiences are insufferable jackasses.
But not you, Mr. Awesome-Libertarian-Pedophile-MRA

I live in New York. I've voted for Hillary four times.
Who here never saw Unfriended?
>>What I am saying is that both groups feed their audiences their opinions back to them and frame the world in a comfortingly sophomoric way.
So what? You don't like comfort? Comfort good. Lies bad.

When I say "quire like this", part of what i mean by that is "ON TV", that implies that she has some power, but it also implies that, unlike all of us, she's got something to lose.
