The other ghosts see Slimer as an Uncle Tom and are not shy about telling him so. He gets beat up a lot.

Scrimmjob - 2016-05-18

It always bothered me that Egon was blond in this.

Cena_mark - 2016-05-19

Not me. My first impression of Ghostbusters came from the cartoon. When I finally saw the movies I was disappointed that Egon wasn't blond in them.

EvilHomer - 2016-05-19

What Cena said. The movies did a poor job of casting Egon.

Nominal - 2016-05-18

The animation was so much better in the intro.

Bort - 2016-05-19

Since the question always comes up, "why do they specify that they're the REAL Ghostbusters?" the answer is that there had been a live action Saturday morning show in the 70s called the Ghost Busters:

Yeah, that's two of the guys from "F Troop".

When the Ghostbusters movie came out, the (other) (original) Ghost Busters people saw an opportunity to launch a cartoon and toy line, and with luck confuse grannies shopping for birthday gifts:

So while those were legally Ghost Busters, they weren't the ones anyone actually wanted anything to do with.

Cena_mark - 2016-05-19

Chris Chan for some reason grew up on the Filmation Ghostbusters cartoon. When I was a kid I called it The Fake Ghostbusters.

memedumpster - 2016-05-19

It always confuses me. When I see "Real Ghostbusters" I think of what Cena calls "fake Ghostbusters."

Even as a kid I knew nut riding when I saw it and understood I was just enjoying a reboot.

memedumpster - 2016-05-19

By the way, I'm three episodes into Supergirl and I like it!

I am a bit tired of the "I'm ready, coach, put me in" speeches, but that's not Supergirl's fault. I've been watching Shield with others and had to endure that speech once for each main character already. Basic watching a new show blues.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-05-19

Yeah, Supergirl is fun, but the characters making terrible speeches doesn't get better. DC just can't get it right.

Next up: Bort sheds light on the unsolved mystery of why the WWF had to change their name.

EvilHomer - 2016-05-19

They were sued by the World Wildlife Fund, which used the same WWF acronym. The Fund got super jelly because everybody like Austin 3:16 and nobody liked dumb pandas.

Anyways, because ChrisChan prefers Fake Ghostbusters, it was clearly the better of the two shows! Hopefully, with Real Ghostbusters undone by their own hubris, that will clear the way for a long-overdue Fake Ghostbusters revival.

Bort - 2016-05-19

"DC just can't get it right."

They've totally nailed the tone of Supergirl herself, and to me that is the most important thing. In the comics, DC has more trouble getting that right; fail on that and super-powered Kryptonians are terrifying rather than comforting.

Bort - 2016-05-19

meme - glad you're liking it! One thing you're going to discover is, the show isn't afraid to finish its arcs quickly. For example, the secret of Hank Henshaw (who, in the comics, arches under the name Cyborg Superman) will get sorted out in just a few episodes, rather than dragging it out until the end of the season.

EvilHomer - 2016-05-19

Violent, secretive, all-powerful elites who claim sole judgement over morality and the law can be "terrifying"? Oh heavens forbid! See, when I think of violent, secretive, all-powerful elites who claim sole judgement over morality and the law, I like to think of them as cuddly teddy bears who have my best interests in heart.

For shame, DC, putting such a negative spin on fascism.

Bort - 2016-05-19

Yes yes, we all know by now that superheroes wouldn't work in the real world, and the genre expects you to accept that vastly overpowered individuals won't be a problem because they will use their powers to save lives but not take over.

You might as well object to Harry Potter films because science denies the existence of house-elves.

Bort - 2016-05-19

(And yeah, I know you're most likely doing a thing. But for all the "serious" columnists who have been litigating superheroes lately, it just needed to be said.)

memedumpster - 2016-05-19

Regular people who aren't psychopaths barely, if ever, works in the real world, let alone alien gods out to do good.

Every time you don't treat someone like shit, the whole world sees you as a threat that must be destroyed.

This is why Reactron is now my totem animal.

memedumpster - 2016-05-19

:) O

Bort - 2016-05-19

Speaking of the Reactron episode, so let me ask you: how the hell can "Supergirl" do a better job with Superman in a chat window, than the assembled talent at DC Comics has done in the past five years?

Also, what the hell was Supergirl thinking, treating Reactron like a human being and preferring not to pummel a guy who was consumed by grief? What sort of crazy shit is that?

Jeriko-1 - 2016-05-20

They had some pretty good writing in this thing. 'Ragnarok n Roll' actually had a scene where the Ghostbusters were all preparing to die in order to defeat the Big Bad. They were ready to suicide bomb the bastard.
