EvilHomer - 2016-06-02
Well, I'm glad to see SOME people still appreciate the genius of Beakman.
Beakman > Bill Nye and Mr Wizard combined. Discuss.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-06-02 Bill Nye is far more relevant than either of them. I always felt that Beakman was a poor man's Bill Nye.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-02 Bill Nye is more "relevant" because he had a better time-slot and a far bigger advertising budget than either of them. Bill Nye is the normie man's Beakman.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-02 Incidentally, Beakman went to my old high-school. There's a big picture of him hanging in the Arts Center.
There is no picture of Bill Nye.
|
nuzzles - 2016-06-02 The Nuzzles house was strictly a Beakman house. We only ever watched Bill Nye in school, kinda like Slim Goodbody. Mr. Wizard was the only one to successfully bridge the two environments.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-06-02 Bill Nye has better things to do than visit your high school. He's on the news, he debates members of congress.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-02 No, I mean Beakman was a student there. He is one of our most storied alumni, both in the fields of Art and Science. Bill Nye, on the other hand, is a two-bit Quaker school brat, whose only got a bachelor's degree to his name.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-02 Bill Nye worked for the military-industrial complex prior to his show, and has no real claim to greatness outside of his TV career.
Meanwhile, Beakman was an artschool visionary, a progressive political activist, and a fixture of the Coney Island art scene. Beakman has won a Guggenheim Fellowship, four Jim Henson Foundation grants, and four National Endowment for the Arts grants. He also, according to Wikipedia, appears as the guest-of-honor at furry conventions.
Nye - 0
Beakman - 7

Scrimmjob - 2016-06-02 I always liked Beakman better than Nye. He had a guy in a rat suit, a sweet Mark Mothersbaugh theme song, and also I had a big time crush on one of his assistants when I was a kid.
Mr. Wizard might still be the king for being such a straight up dickhead to his child helpers, and the shows transitions are classic.

Cena_mark - 2016-06-02 You guys sound like kids who's grandma bought him Megablox trying to convince himself that it's just as good as Legos.
Homer, you act like Nye being in the defense industries was a bad thing. He was making weapons and technology to keep you safe! Nye defeated Ken Ham in a debate, embarrassed him, and ended creationism once and for all, and to top it off HIS SHOW WAS BETTER.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-06-02 Nye is fighting global warming deniers. He could possibly be saving your home right now. Meanwhile, nobody in the States cares about Weakman, so he's playing for pesos south of the border.
|
|
baleen - 2016-06-02 you guys are a bunch of children's science show hipsters.
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-03 "Pesos south of the border". Huh, sorry Trump_Mark, but in case you didn't notice, Mexico is poised to annex the United States. And good riddance, I say - if Mexico is pro-Beakman, then it deserves to rule over North America. ¡Viva el Beakman!
|
EvilHomer - 2016-06-03 As for Nye, he's not "fighting global warming" so much as he is "fighting for his military-industrial paymaster's political interest in creating a global tax grid". There's a lot of things he could do to combat AGW (now ACG), but he chooses to do the easiest, and most mercenary, of them. And HAM? You really want to bring that fiasco up? Ham is a soft target, and truth be told, the debate actually didn't go too well for Nye.
It's bad enough that Nye would pick a fight with a nutter like Ham, but then to go on and LOSE the debate?! Huh.
Beakman - 20 Nye - 0
game over

memedumpster - 2016-06-03 Hey, that's not funny!
Seriously, though, Mexico isn't going to annex ALL of the states, right? It will leave out Texas, Florida, and the Carolinas, surely.
Surely.
I don't wanna' be Mexican if Texans are too.
