Sanest Man Alive - 2016-06-18
Didn't know who this was, so I watched a compilation in the related vids.
...I don't think I get South Park anymore and I'm okay with that.
Also: the difference in detail between the older SP characters and this new guy is pretty fucking jarring.

Gmork - 2016-06-18
Haven't met someone who thinks PC Principal is an insightful and witty commentary current social trends who isn't a complete idiot.

SolRo - 2016-06-18 First couple seasons were okay for teenage me, because they were just about being crass and edgy. Later on the spoiled libertarian brain disease that the creators have really set in and they started using the show as a platform for their really-really stupid ideas.

When the gamers think South Park sucks, it really fucking sucks.
SolRo - 2016-06-18 Technically these are adults that make games, not necessarily gamers.
Cena_mark - 2016-06-18 Same thing. Musicians are typically music lovers, artists are typically art lovers, and game designers are typically gamers.
SolRo - 2016-06-19 Meh. The process of making games is so removed from playing them that there are many people making them who don't play them or even hate games. Not that they'll say that in an interview that would cost them their job.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-20 "Musicians are typically music lovers, artists are typically art lovers"
The output of a lot of them suggests otherwise.

Accidie - 2016-06-18
I loved the last season of south park, then again, I was in Berkeley. It's almost like the season was made for the Bay Area.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-18 As someone who has lived his entire life in the most left leaning parts of New England, the PC Principle character is literally incomprehensible to me. I have no idea what stereotypes it's supposed to be based on.
Incidentally, anyone else remember the completely, 100% unironic Massachusetts secessionist groups that sprang up after G.W. was re-elected?
I knew at least 4 people involved in them.
There are plenty of people on the left who can give anyone on the right a run for their money when it comes to being out of touch with reality.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-18 But that doesn't mean the last season of South Park was good (I don't know, I haven't seen it, but the clips on Youtube aren't exactly making me want to).
Sanest Man Alive - 2016-06-19 G.W., as in George Washington? Holy fuck Zircon you really are old.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-19 Oh come on, be series.
I was talking about George Washington Owen.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-20 I know that, I just don't even know what stereotypes the strawman is based on. Like, it's so far removed from anything I've actually encountered in real life I can't wrap my head around it.
On the other hand, after watching one of the longer E3 highlight clips I think I understand it a bit more.

Accidie - 2016-06-23 yeah, sorry guys, if you think this character isn't real I think you're more guilty of living in a box than the people you are actually shit talking in this thread.
SolRo - 2016-06-23 Yeah...no.
No one here is remotely as bad off as the idiots we're talking about.
No one here is sending death threats and stalking women for having e-opinions. No one here thinks respecting women and minorities is a vice. No one here thinks that being a bigot makes you manly.
Anaxagoras - 2016-06-23 Okay... now what are *you* talking about, SolRo? Accidie wasn't saying the people here are morally equivalent to the MRA assholes. They're not. He was just saying that if they don't believe that PC Principal represents a real thing, then they're living in as much of a bubble (i.e. they're just as deluded) as the MRA assholes.
15th - 2016-06-23 Militant and irrational leftism is a myth, you fucking bigots.

Xenocide - 2016-06-20
South Park has always relied on repeating one joke endlessly to fill a half hour, but PC Principal was the first time they actually applied that to an entire SEASON. Twelve straight episodes of the same "MICROAGGRESSION! ARGH!" gag repeated for a half hour at a time.
But don't be fooled: it was one of the laziest shows on television long before that. This was just the season they stopped pretending.
Old_Zircon - 2016-06-20 Still not as lazy as SNL post, I don't know, 1980?
Xenocide - 2016-06-20 I can't fault mid-90's SNL because they had Phil Hartman. But yeah, current SNL is a strong contender for the Laziness Crown (please note that there is no laziness crown, as everyone was too lazy to make one.)
