Fast fowarded randomly to adam sandler shooting a BFG into the night sky and zapping centipedes. It's exactly as terrible as jay and mike led me to believe

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-20

I skipped around a bit and I've got to say, the production values are better than I was expecting.

Which isn't to say they're good, just better than I was expecting.

Xenocide - 2016-08-20

How could Adam Sandler shoot the Big Friendly Giant like that.

Gmork - 2016-08-20

BFG stands for Big Fucking Gun.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-20

No, it stands for Big Friendly Giant.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_BFG

Gmork - 2016-08-20

Saying "No" is incorrect Homer, as it stands for both things, seeing as it's a shared acronym.

You're off your game.

Gmork - 2016-08-20

Also, do you have a job? Just curious.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-20

It's never stood for Big Fucking Gun. Doom had a weapon called the "BFG 9000", to which folk etymology attached the meaning "Big Fucking Gun", but this acronym was not officially acknowledged within the game.

It's also probably not a "shared acronym", because, as per above, the 'BFG' in Doom's "BFG 9000" hasn't actually been formally established as an acronym (except within the film continuity, which may not be canon, and at any rate renders the acronym's meaning as "Bio Force Gun", rather than "Big Fucking Gun").

For a gun nut, you sure don't know much about video game guns. :\

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-08-20

LOOK AT ME! I'M ADAM SANDLER, AND THIS IS ONE OF MY TWO FUNNY VOICES! GIMME SOME CANDY!

Okay, maybe he has had his moments, but "Cajun Man" was the biggest piece of shit in SNL's 40 year history. I'm still pissed off about "Cajun Man".

Gmork - 2016-08-21

"It's never stood for Big Fucking Gun."

Yes, it did. In the game manual it stated that it stood for "Big... uh, freaking gun." Which unless you're a complete idiot (and you seem to be trying very hard to act like one) obviously means it stands for "Big Fucking Gun" but they didn't want to swear in the manual.

Being intentionally obtuse is really your bag, isn't it?

"Doom had a weapon called the "BFG 9000", to which folk etymology attached the meaning "Big Fucking Gun"

As I've stated above, the developers themselves coined the term "big fucking gun", just without swearing. For obvious reasons.

"but this acronym was not officially acknowledged within the game."

The game manual counts. Using a word instead of the swear word it actually stands for in the manual was a PR move - it doesn't somehow magically change the name simply because you like pretending to not understand something in order to arbitrarily troll one of my comments.

"It's also probably not a "shared acronym", because, as per above, the 'BFG' in Doom's "BFG 9000" hasn't actually been formally established as an acronym"

Yes, it has. Over and over again. Whether you call it "Big Freaking Gun" or "Big Fucking Gun", the acronym stays the same. Your point is invalid.

"(except within the film continuity, which may not be canon, and at any rate renders the acronym's meaning as "Bio Force Gun", rather than "Big Fucking Gun")."

Again, a PR move, which you knew beforehand but you're simply attempting to act ignorant of in order to perform this ridiculously transparent attempt at trolling me. Also, it's pretty obvious you just scanned the wiki since you knew jack shit about this before posting.

"For a gun nut, you sure don't know much about video game guns. :\"

Sure I do. I just eviscerated your intentionally obtuse troll post by calling you out on your obvious schtick.

And no, I'm still not a gun nut, despite your gradeschool-level maturity attempts at calling me one.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-21

... except the developers DID NOT use the term "Big Fucking Gun" in an official capacity. You keep claiming they did, yet you freely admit that, in actual fact, the developers officially referred to it instead as a "Big Freaking Gun".

Now that in itself is more than enough, but I'm going to have to go one step further here and ask you to produce some sources on your new "Big Freaking Gun" claim. You may be correct that the gun was named as such in Doom's manual - BUT, according to TVTropes.com, that particular rendering of the term came, not from the Doom manual, but from the Quake II manual (even down to the added interjection "uhhh").

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-21

EH is correct, unlessthere were drastic differences between the original print manual and the readme file. My family had a 386 until Ultimate Doom came out, so I never registered the shareware version and got the print manual because I couldn't run it and can't confirm or deny now, but I did read the print manual at a friend's house a few times and as far as I'm able to recall, they're identical. If not identical, very close.

"BFG 9000s are the prize of the military's arsenal. Great
for clearing the room of those unwelcome guests. Shoot it
and see for yourself."

At any rate, ID's choice of stand-in for "fucking" in the doom era was never "freaking" it was "fraggin'."

Gmork - 2016-08-21

"... except the developers DID NOT use the term "Big Fucking Gun" in an official capacity."

They absolutely did. The way it was phrased was patently obvious that they simply didn't want to swear, but the intent was plain unless you're a complete moron. Which you seem to be, apparently, by continuing this argument.

"You keep claiming they did, yet you freely admit that, in actual fact, the developers officially referred to it instead as a "Big Freaking Gun"."

See above. Also, "Big Freaking Gun" still fits under the BFG acronym, which again invalidates any reason for you to have responded to my comment in the first place, as it also shares an acronym with Big Friendly Giant. You're splitting hairs, and even then you fail to make any kind of point.

"Now that in itself is more than enough,"

No, it absolutely is not. You're being obtuse again.

"but I'm going to have to go one step further here and ask you to produce some sources on your new "Big Freaking Gun" claim. You may be correct that the gun was named as such in Doom's manual - BUT, according to TVTropes.com, that particular rendering of the term came, not from the Doom manual, but from the Quake II manual (even down to the added interjection "uhhh").""

Same company. Game gun. Same acronym. Your entire reason for shitposting has been invalidated.

Gmork - 2016-08-21

"At any rate, ID's choice of stand-in for "fucking" in the doom era was never "freaking" it was "fraggin'.""

Which is just a way of saying "fucking" without actually saying it, because they're trying to avoid controversy.

Which also invalidates any reason homer would have had to reply to my comment with his intentionally obtuse gimmicky nonsense.

I approve of Megadeumpster's new gimmick.

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-21

do you pronounce that "doymster" or what?

memedumpster - 2016-08-21

Mega-doom-ster.

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-20

Downloaded. I blame you in advance.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-08-20

Point: Adam Sandler hasn't been funny since SNL.

Counterpoint: Adam Sandler wasn't funny on SNL, either.

SolRo - 2016-08-20

I liked his autobiographical movie about the difficulties of his younger years as a retarded simpleton trying to play football.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-20

Anti-semites.

Gmork - 2016-08-20

Swing and a miss.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-08-20

The Hanukkah Song was legitimately funny.

So, yeah, you are anti-Semites.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-20

Adam Sandler follows in a long line of slapstick Jewish comedians. He's our generation's Jerry Lewis, our Danny Kaye. He's also a strong supporter of Israel, which I doubt has gone unnoticed in your minds.

Nazi punks, eff off.

Space Odin - 2016-08-20

Adam Sandler was good exactly three times:

1) Punch Drunk Love

2) The SNL "Sabra Price is Right" sketch

3) You don't mess with the Zohan.

Considering that 2 and 3 were almost the same thing, maybe 2.5 times.

Gmork - 2016-08-21

He's a shit comedian and actor and writer. Being a jew doesn't enter into it. Pretty pathetic argument, homer.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-21

Being a Jew doesn't enter it? Really? So why then is all the negative attention piled on Sandler, a proud and successful Jewish man, and not on Kevin James, or Peter Dinklage, both of whom are WASPs? Why don't people blame director Chris Columbus, an Italian guy who also directed Harry Potter, or Tim Herlihy, Sandler's long-time writer and a big fat Irishman?

The Jew is always the scapegoat for you type of people.

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-21

It's no longer free hon Youtube, but for a while there was an official upload of his late 80s, pre-SNL debut movie "Going OVerboard."

In which he and some of his B list comic friends figured out a way to get paid to go on a cruise by cobbling together a no-budget, nearly plotless, largely improvised, unfunny comedy about some comedians on a cruise.

Adam Sandler has been Adam Sandler since day 1.

But by most accounts he's a pretty nice guy in real life.

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-21

Space Odin, no Airheads in that list?

Gmork - 2016-08-21

"Being a Jew doesn't enter it? Really? So why then is all the negative attention piled on Sandler, a proud and successful Jewish man, and not on Kevin James, or Peter Dinklage, both of whom are WASPs? "

People hate the shit out of Kevin James, so I have no idea what you're blathering on about.

Peter Dinklage is above reproach. He can afford to be in a bad movie or two.

"Why don't people blame director Chris Columbus, an Italian guy who also directed Harry Potter, or Tim Herlihy, Sandler's long-time writer and a big fat Irishman?"

Because Chris Columbus isn't a celebrity. Nobody knows who he is or gives a shit. Same for Tim Herlihy. Non-celebrity actors and directors - not just forgettable, but completely below perception.

"The Jew is always the scapegoat for you type of people."

Dude. "You type of people"?

Dude.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-21

So what if Chris Columbus isn't a celebrity, in your opinion? What, only "celebrities" can be criticized now?! And I'm calling bullshit on your claim that people "hate the shit" out of Kevin James. Kevin James gets barely any flak for this film. The few times he's even mentioned, it's only as an afterthought, tagged on at the end of a blisteringly antisemitic rant about how quote unquote "awful" Mr Sandler is.

And yes, I said "you type of people". I don't have to tolerate anti-Semites.

Gmork - 2016-08-21

"So what if Chris Columbus isn't a celebrity, in your opinion?"

See, it's not just my opinion though. Most people on the street wouldn't know who the fuck he is. Celebrity means you've become somewhat of a household name.

"What, only "celebrities" can be criticized now?!"

Totally missing the point, as usual.

"And I'm calling bullshit on your claim that people "hate the shit" out of Kevin James. Kevin James gets barely any flak for this film."

Nobody said anything about restricting peoples' dislike of kevin james to his involvement with this film. Another fallacious argument.

"The few times he's even mentioned, it's only as an afterthought, tagged on at the end of a blisteringly antisemitic rant about how quote unquote "awful" Mr Sandler is."

I wouldn't know, as I have never read such arguments.

"And yes, I said "you type of people". I don't have to tolerate anti-Semites."

You literally made a huge stink about "you can't be intolerant of intolerance" in a previous video. You are directly contradicting yourself here, and I'm starting to think you're not nearly as intelligent as I once gave you credit for. Either that, or you have the memory of a goldfish.

Or you're just a gigantic fucking hypocrite and you don't care.

So now you're arbitrarily labeling me an anti-semite? This is a new low, even for you, Homer.

You seem to love labeling people things not only without any evidence to back up your claims, you actually make them IN SPITE of direct evidence that contradicts it.

When someone says "I have an opinion on X", you can't seem to help yourself but jump to conclusions as to why they have that opinion, especially when they blatantly state their reasons, and said reasons completely contradict your assertion.

Grow the fuck up.

EvilHomer - 2016-08-22

... and yet, Gmork, now that the shoe is on the other foot, YOU think that it's fine for you to be intolerant.

Hmmmmm!

Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid. Either tolerance is an ethical prinicple that we must adhere to regardless, or your anit-semitism is intolerable. Take your pick, I can argue either way.

memedumpster - 2016-08-22

"Adam Sandler follows in a long line of slapstick Jewish comedians."

And no matter how fast they run, they can't get away from him.

Two Jar Slave - 2016-08-22

Is EH really this far gone down the troll road? Dang. Another one bites it. It doesn't have to be this way -- you can probably still reel it back in.

Gmork - 2016-08-22

Social tolerance != tolerance of everything.

Not liking adam sandler because he's a hack fraud != anti-semitism.

You're slipping, EH.

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2016-08-20

Punch Drunk Love redeems Adam Sandler for every bad movie he's put out since Click. I can't hate him.
But I hate this.

cognitivedissonance - 2016-08-20

I was once a personnel manager for a Verizon call center. As a "reward", we set up a media lounge for high performing agents. Unfortunately, the person buying the Blu-Rays only bought "Pixels".

It was on loop for 90 days straight. I never saw anybody utilizing the lounge. It was a dark room with Adam Sandler playing to himself.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-08-20

heil hitler

Quad9Damage - 2016-08-20

36 minutes in. I don't 'hate' it. I even laughed a couple of times. Peter Dinklage with a blond mullet wig was fun. Sandler seems very tired.

Maggot Brain - 2016-08-20

Thank you for posting this. It's like I'm taking the food right out of Adam Sandler's mouth.

bopeton - 2016-08-21

Well, it wasn't as bad as I expected, but it still seems like a colossal waste of a pretty good premise.

I still maintain they're voxels though. Not pixels.
