I wonder how many people are threatening to kill this woman right now. I really think she might be suffering.
I wonder how she compares to Alex Jones, that is to say the anger and conspiracy of privilege (Jones came from a well off white ranching family who stole land) and the conspiracy of a post-colonial Indian woman who's land was stolen.
I listened to the whole thing so you would have exactly one person to talk to about this that wont immediately be a fucking disgusting example of what she is talking about, and I still may be anyway.
I agree with the message of her speech, and only find a few of her historical details a little on the Cliff Claven side of rough strokes over nuance, but it's a quibble, not a refutation of what she claims is fact. I think when it comes to understanding the internal bullshit disease pit of the Western mind, she has it nailed down. When it comes to understanding the Euromerican colonial war lust, she has it nailed down. When it comes to stating what a crime against the entirety of causality capitalists are, she's spot on. I too believe, and have said, that capitalists are using climate change for massive non-white global genocide. It is a conspiracy, and it does invalidate all Western power as unfit for human civilization, though that's my opinion and not her stated one (for those who wont watch). She believes in reform of the human mind, I believe in natural fucking selection on the stupid and violent from without.
We both have our faiths in an unreasoning solution, because the truth of the world is that only the horrible succeed in society as we have built it, on purpose, and the worst of humanity is always favored. She is betting that we can save ourselves by reforming the mind, I am betting that nature wont save the worst of us, because we will choose to let them die when the time comes. Between us, she is the optimist.
I think the difference between her and Alex Jones is Alex Jones is well falsified, while this woman's speech is backed up by shitloads of actual history. It's not like the shit world hides it, it's proud of it. Alex Jones knowingly lies to people who want to believe his bullshit is the truth over actual reality, while this woman, I personally think, is knowingly telling the truth to people who will choose to believe she is lying. Whether or not she thinks she is helping, I don't know, but I don't fault her for trying even if it doesn't, because what else do we have to do on a planet this fucking shit without being the shit the world is? There isn't much. Earth has a few thousand jobs that isn't fucking over someone else, they aren't hiring.
"I wonder how many people are threatening to kill this woman right now."
Every white male that doesn't just want to fuck her silent her instead (see thread below with CenaHomer, and seriously, that shit is fucking gross after you listen to this speech).
"People think we have to be nice to get things done, I reject that."
I think that explains her confrontational behavior, and I approve.
I think the problem with this approach is its inherit divisiveness. I think the real jam of it is _ humans have a propensity to be inherently shitty. Any culture or race that has a larger share in this is circumstantial. Being a decent person is something one has to work at and maybe those born into a privileged position must work harder and more thoughtfully. I'd always argue class is the biggest boot to lift.
People are born into a divided world on the losing side and then told not to be divisive by their oppressor. This is the myth of reform, it has been used for thousands of years to keep shitbags in power and is why we have a global institution of child rapists that should have been put down a thousand years ago when they tried to exterminate the Jews, like we did the Nazis.
In a thousand years, it will be the excuse to why America was instrument in depopulating the earth by allowing its corporations to be mass murdering garbage.
Fuck that shit.
Again, my complete hatred of the lying ass concept of reform is not echoed by the speaker in the video, who thoroughly believes a bad world can get better by an act of will, in defiance of all the laws of motion.
My poorly worded thought was divisive to others whom are in the same boat (to varying degrees) which is just about everyone, regardless of whatever ethnic/race baggage they have inherited. It seems the left is keen to divide down cultural lines, when they would be better off cleaving it, at say, the bottom 97% that can't flee climate change.
I just find this approach to discourse to be wasted and childish. For example, attacking whites who have co-opted veganism. This will only have a positive affect on the environment. Taking time to delegitimize a progressive choice because they are white is stupid. It all reminds me of my years as an angsty, ineffectual teenager and I resent that.
I'd take one solar panel engineer over 50 Sociology MBAs touring the choir circuit.
Or maybe I'm just tired.
The problem with her and your viewpoint comes when you start lecturing people based on the color of their skin whose worst act of oppression they've ever committed in their entire lives is legally purchasing consumer goods.
The fight for equality is currently suffering from and losing to massive backlash from this exact type of mentality. When your *entire* agenda requires you to convince people to change, and your methodology is shouting like a harpy, you WILL lose.
The main problem with this woman and like-minded people, as I see it, is that they're actually pretty spoiled. They've seen a lot of social progress in their lives, and they've lived through a time that's seen the largest expansion of communications in the history of mankind. It's totally warped their sense of scale in these matters. Social change is a long dirty slog through the mud that takes patience over generations. When you forget that, and your voice becomes shrill and unpalatable, you lose progress.
We were doing so well, but I honestly think the way the conversation has shifted to a darker and more accusatory tone has turned enough people to set social progress back at least a generation.
I'm laughing at the idea that anyone could take CenaHomer's little improv sketch seriously.
Actually, I think she compares remarkably well with Alex Jones. Ms Joshi operates under two core premises:
1) immigration is fundamentally destructive towards native cultures, and
2) economic globalization serves the interests of multinational corporations, at the expense of indigenous welfare
(Ms Joshi's primary thesis, that the destruction of native cultures and economies facilitates the destruction of local animal welfare, stems from these two premises))
Ms Joshi and Mr Jones come from slightly different angles regarding the economic/ cultural problems issues raised by the "mainstream" i.e. globalized West - each speaks to a slightly different audience; each has a slightly different in-group preference; Joshi is not very careful about her definitions, while Jones usually doesn't bother with definitions at all; & etc - but in each case, the core arguments, the *central narrative* they paint, is the same. In fact, MANY of the things which Ms Joshi says in this lecture (17:55, for example) could be repeated, pretty much verbatim, by any given pro-Trump, "alt-right" blogger, with no-one being the wiser.
Now, if you want an analysis of their respective personal histories, first I would ask why this matters (surely, whether their arguments stand up to scrutiny matters far more than who their families were?), and second I would say that, given the limited information currently available online, this question cannot be answered by any of us - but I would *suspect* that, even in this regard, they two are not so very different. Ms Joshi, like Mr Jones, seems to be the product of, at the very least, upper-middle class privilege. Ms Joshi, like Mr Jones, cites spirituality as a major driving force behind her work. Ms Joshi, like Mr Jones, is quite articulate and clearly comes from an intelligent, educated background - indeed, at the risk of being classist and/or racist, I feel comfortable in assuming that Ms Joshi is *better* educated than Mr Jones, or at least attended a more prestigious, more expensive, university (I will eat my hat the day I meet a Texan who is better-educated than we English people). Both Joshi and Jones, then, are your "typical" populists - members of the privileged-class, presuming to speak on behalf of the largely silent less-fortunate.
Same arguments, similar life stories; I hope Mr Jones will invite her on Infowars someday, and I hope she will extend him the same courtesy at one of her future speaking engagements!
People are being murdered, until that stops all your excuses for explicitly and implicitly endorsing it by attacking the truth of that fact boil down to
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL BAAAAAAAD.
I cannot express how little fucks I give if you're offended. An absence of all words is still too many.
If I required the stupid hate snobbery of Americans to justify my own hatred of them, I would have it in spades. I do not, it's everyones' actions that condemn them thoroughly.
Cry so more and be secretly happy at mass murder, I hate you for it anyway, you may as well enjoy it.
"....be secretly happy at mass murder, I hate you for it anyway, you may as well enjoy it."
I'm not personally offended, but you have revealed yourself for the petty waste of resources that you are.
As the kids say, be careful not to hurt yourself on all that edge.
It's comforting to know that the far left is so good at self-righteously shooting itself in the foot that it will never grow to become the same kind of problem as the far right.
Oh my God.
respect her viewpoints and ask her out to a nice Yalee coffee shop, so that we might discuss social justice further.
Also, fuck off, JHM, I saw this one first.
Don't worry about JHMF, she's not white (or 19).
Seriously though, JHMF is your alt, right? Along with Cena Mark?
No, just Gmork, baleen, and Nominal.
I'm not Alt Right. I'm a righteous SJW now.
I'll be asking her out, and then we'll go to conventions together doing a couples cosplay as Steven and Connie.
Oh fuck off, too, Cena. I'll fight you for m'lady.
Or would I?
No, wait, that would be barbaric and regressive. I will NOT fight you for m'lady - and in so doing, I will convince her of my pure intentions and win her heart.
And WE'LL cosplay as Ruby and Sapphire. So phhbbttt.
If she's so against colonization, then why did she colonize my heart?
Ruby and Sapphire? 1. You don't like Steven Universe.
2. Ruby and Sapphire are both female coded gems, that makes them LESBIANS!
3. Just look at her. She's a perfect fit to be Connie Meheswaran.
Oh Cena, has ChrisChan taught you nothing?
You're not a lesbian and you never will.
She's not a lesbian, either. That's why it's cosplay.
And that's kind of racist, typecasting her as Connie, merely because Zarna and Connie happen to share a similar ethnicity.
It's not cause they're both Indian, it's just that they look similar.
"All Indians look alike" ~ Cena Mark
I didn't say that. But here comes a though on racism. Is it wrong for Rebecca Sugar to have given Connie so many positive stereotypes associated with Indian Americans. She's smart, bookish, well behaved, her mother's a medical doctor (yet her father's a rentacop).
That depends on which side you want me to argue.
Like all stereotypes, it is really only "wrong" if 1) it's factually incorrect, or 2) it's being used as justification to subvert liberal meritocracy.
It IS more than a little colonialist, though. The fact of the matter is that while Indians generally ARE "smart, bookish, and well-behaved" here in the United States, these stereotypes do not hold as true on the Indian subcontinent itself. This is due to the coded colonialism of globalization - immigrants *to* the United States *from* India tend to be intelligent, well-educated professionals. This skews the stereotypical "Desi-American" towards an idealized mean. Meanwhile, globalization fills India with heavy industry and low-skilled tele-service sector jobs, keeping the less intelligent, less bookish, and most of all less wealthy, firmly rooted in place.
It's akin to RebiSu having her characters be virtuous, upstanding, all-American _Saudi oil princes_, or even writing in a positive Jewish character, whose entire family was slaughtered in the Holocaust, and acting like this was a good thing.
Also, I really don;t know much about Steven Universe so perhaps you could help me here, but what ethnicity IS Connie, anyway?
Has RebiSu ever specified where in India Connie's family happens to come from? I HOPE Ms Sugar didn't just say "Oh, she's just some Indian", because let me tell you, the Indian subcontinent is a big place, with many proud cultures, language groups, and ethnicities. "Generic Indian" makes about as much sense as "Generic European" - obviously, white people know that there are massive differences between Frenchmen, Swedes, Bulgarians, and the Irish. You'd care if some writer clearly couldn't tell the difference between a Turk and a Scotsman, so why should you give Rebecca a pass for confusing a Tamil with a Punjabi?
the woman (zarna i guess?) screaming at hugh is SolRo/Bawbag made flesh
So I'm not solro or bawbag anymore? And I also may or may not be evilhomer now?
WHO EVEN AM I
The WWF took more than just the lands of indigenous peoples. They took the trademark away from my favorite professional wrestling company!
ECW was your favorite professional wrestling company?
It's as if some people don't grow out of teenaged self-pity and misguided, narrow anger and instead turn it into a life-long pursuit.

I mean, really, how can one be expected to listen to an Indian lecture white people on the oppression of their culture with a straight face?
