Oh hey.... looks like porn stars are about as vacuous as the general population. What a surprise.

One of the people did express an idea that has always confused me, though. She declared that her nanna was her hero because she'd survived both breast cancer & lung cancer, losing a lung in the process. But nanna was still "going strong", and therefore she's the starlet's hero. I hear dumb inarticulate say this type of thing a lot. What gives? Going through a shitty experience is certainly shitty, but how does that speak to their character?

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-09-07

Going through renal cancer didn't speak much to my mom's character because it fucking killed her lol what a dumb useless bitch I'm glad she's dead

Also one time I thought I lost my wallet and I had to bum friends to pay for dinner but later it turned out I'd just left it on top of the washing machine, UGH GAWD that was worse than getting a tumor tit lopped off probably

Of greater importance to her statement is the mention of her grandma talking with her about her choice of career and supporting her in that choice, but hey, I can let a bug crawl up my butt too.

Anaxagoras - 2016-09-07

Oh hey then it was the acceptance of her career, her support, and her open-mindedness that spoke to her character. The fact that she suffered through a randomly delivered horrible experience is completely irrelevant. And yet, that kind of suffering is often mentioned anyways. The world is a strange and mysterious place.

Don't let me stop you from removing that bug. I hear they're a real bitch to get rid of. Perhaps that can be a stand-in for a cancer experience. Maybe if you're lucky some idiot friend and/or family member will cite its removal as a reason they admire you.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2016-09-07

Uh, perhaps they showed remarkable resilience and grace throughout the experience.

Of course, people who die from cancer often show grace under pressure but that doesn't usually get called heroic. Perhaps there's a bias here where we think that survivors survived because they deserved it somehow. Not sure an oncologist could get behind that. Or maybe we don't think that dying, even if you do it well, takes much effort.

Honestly, I'd like to hear King Arthur's take on this.

chumbucket - 2016-09-07

I survived cancer only because I didn't want to die.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-07

So who's your hero, poeTV?

Scrimmjob - 2016-09-07

Oh you know, Peter North or Aphex Twin, whichever really.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-07

Mine is Rainbow Dash, because she's really brave, and she always pushes herself to be the best.

Adham Nu'man - 2016-09-07

This guy: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=87990

kamlem - 2016-09-07

I had a hero, but she died.

jangbones - 2016-09-07

My hero is Sarah Shevon

Bort - 2016-09-08

Jill Stein! Now there's a warrant out for her, for misdemeanor vandalism. Will she go on the run like Lorenzo Lamas in "Renegade", traveling from town to town warning people about the dangers of wi-fi and vaccinations?

http://nation.foxnews.com/2016/09/07/arrest-warrant-issued-jil l-stein-vandalism-investigation

Scrimmjob - 2016-09-08

I'd vote for Jill Stein if her running mate was Johnny Sixkiller!

EvilHomer - 2016-09-08

I thought you didn't like Jill Stein, Bort? Glad to learn I was mistaken, and that IS a good answer! I was kinda hoping to get serious answers from people, so thanks for that. She's definitely a person worthy of admiration, whether she's in the White House or fighting for justice town-by-town.

Bort - 2016-09-08

Bobby SixHEALER would use his Native American wisdom and pan flute non-diegetic music to remove toxins from people's body and restore them to perfect health, to the perpetual consternation of the Big Pharma exec who is hounding Jill Stein at every turn.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-08

Geeze. I just read a few articles on it, and both the story and the coverage really says a lot about what the United States has become.

I won't discuss it here, since this video is for discussing porn stars and heroism, but Mr Bort, perhaps you could submit your favorite news story and/or vlog?

Bort - 2016-09-08

Bort recommends Nancy LeTourneau as particularly clear-headed, informative, and even-handed. For example:

15th - 2016-09-08

My hero is the same as Matthew McConaughey's, which is Mathew McConaughey in five years.

Seriously though, I don't think a have one. Maybe Mark Twain?

Hugo Gorilla - 2016-09-07

April O'Neil could've mentioned all four of the turtles but I guess she was afraid that would sound insincere. And naming just one would've led to hurt feelings and resentment among the boys.

Xenocide - 2016-09-07

She should have just named Master Splinter. No one could object to that, because he's a wise ferret or whatever.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-07

I liked her answer. Her and that Asian chick who sells her mom's lingerie to her fans, they win this round.

blue vein steel - 2016-09-07

one of the ladies' hero is David Icke. That seems about right.

rawelkij - 2016-09-07

She forgot to mention the reptilians.

blue vein steel - 2016-09-07

Protecting her welfare, i guess. Known fact that reptilians run the porn industry.

Chancho - 2016-09-07

None of them said their dad...hmmmmm...

Bort - 2016-09-07

"The Doctor!" "Which doctor?" "They're all the same Doctor, it's the same person!"

Loved her answer, though I'm not entirely sure she understood what he was asking. Which is contingent upon him understanding her answer.

Though the best Doctor of course is Jon Pertwee in that better universe where Steven Moffat got to write his adventures. This is the Pertwee-est thing I've ever seen but performed by Capaldi:

EvilHomer - 2016-09-07

There was no such universe, and the best Doctor was David Tennant.

I'm not saying that as a subjective judgement, either. Subjectively, I think I prefer Matt Smith. No, no, rigorous statistical studies have been done on the Best Doctor question, and these studies have found that Tennant is the best, almost half a mean rating-point higher than Pertwee (who is a mere fifth).

1394 - 2016-09-07

Ben Franklin is pretty fitting.

15th - 2016-09-08

*****

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-09

"My cat" is the most acceptable answer given.

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-09

3:22 is the worst.

Old_Zircon - 2016-09-09

I propose that anyone whose hero is Charles Bukowski doesn't really understand the writings of Charles Bukowski very well.

The Mothership - 2023-01-12

Agreed.
