I think my housemates think I've lost my mind from how hard I'm laughing alone in my room.

Coming out from under anesthesia sucks. I was put under 5 times during my extended stay post-motorcycle crash. Though when the nurses give you some ice cubes it's like the most delicious thing on earth.

Bobonne - 2016-09-11

Nurses in various hospital wards dealing with recovering anesthetized patients apparently receive frequent attempts from said patients to buy the water pitchers, glasses, and other such recepticles with which refreshing tap water is delivered for rather ridiculous prices.

This happens all over the world, almost everyday, from what I understand.

It's funny because I get it (having had more than the average number of sedation events, compared to the average joe), even if I know it's all pretty much a placebo effect.

Adham Nu'man - 2016-09-12

How come you crashed? What happened?

SolRo - 2016-09-12

My teenage invincibility encountered physics.

I mean it certainly sounds like he feels better now.

fedex - 2016-09-11

The Mothership - 2016-09-11

duck&cover - 2016-09-11

They give you gas, you give it right back.

Callamon - 2016-09-11

this is a dupe but I can't find it

Bort - 2016-09-11

It's the look on his face, like he was leaning over to tell her, "there is an international team of assassins after me and you're in terrible danger!"

Maybe he WAS saying something like that, but in code. Hell, maybe he belongs to an elite band of code talkers.

boner - 2016-09-11

if this is post-colonoscopy, it's the one time in your life you get to fart like that completely guilt-free and it doesn't even smell like anything because you spent an entire day taking purgatives. plus being sedated feels great

kingarthur - 2016-09-12

Seriously. I had an upper GI series and barium swallow done on me when they diagnosed my cancer. The gastroenterologist's post-procedure room was FULL of people farting left right and center. It was gross. All I could hear coming from behind every curtain in the room were people passing gas loudly.

poorwill - 2016-09-11

a couple of days ago i did a fart right in the middle of twerk class while i was twerking. it was very awkward and embarrassing.

Jet Bin Fever - 2016-09-11

It's actually critically important to have a bowel movement as soon as possible after abdominal surgery. Even if the brain can't feel the pain due to anesthesia, the rest of the body goes into hyper-sympathetic (fight or flight) mode, meaning the bowels can completely stop moving. That's called post-op ileus, and is a major complication of surgery. So yeah the sooner you shit, the sooner you get to go home!

That was my motto all through preschool.
