John Oliver tells a story of calling his wife when she was in Iraq, I believe.. She was telling him about her work as a medic, and it was all so important and heroic, that he was too embarrassed to tell her the news that he'd gotten his own comedy show on HBO.
When she was 16, she was hit by a car, and she received a head wound that was so severe she had to learn to read and write all over again.
