I thought Wii U was supposed to be like this, and then it turned out you couldn't leave the house with it. Looks like they corrected that.

How do we know that guy's house doesn't incorporate an airplane?

People who are into video games aren't likely to go out and do a lot of physical stuff.

People who go out to do physical stuff aren't likely to bring a video game with them to play while dong physical stuff.

It's the same mistake Nokia made with the N-Gage.

Nintendo has long accepted it's position as #3, so again their reach are the casual gamers, their loyal fanbase, and perhaps selling a second console to the hardcore gamers who already have a Hex Box or Playstation.

EvilHomer
Nintendo's not #3. Looking at the combined market share of the Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo is a solid #2, below Sony and above Hexbox.

The DS and 3DS have sold 200 million units. So I'd say the demographic of people who go out and do things and also enjoy video games is pretty damn sizeable.

And actually if you look back at Nintendo's hardware history, a combination console/handheld is something they've wanted to do for decades, ever since the Super Game Boy. They've been waiting for the technology to make this possible since at least the 90's. The Wii U was jumping the gun but it looks like they've finally arrived.

I was going to list all the Nintendo properties that I'm interested in and I relized they're all on handheld(pokemon, fire emblem and advace wars).

So maybe this won't be such a bad idea.

I'm just not sure about the tabet/clip-on controllers gimmick.

I want a Lance Storm console, not an Ed Lesley console.
Cena_mark
But Lance Storm was boring.

Cena_mark
It's clearly another baby's toy from Nintendo. No you can take your hentai with you.

I want the Donald Trump of game systems.

Unapologetically an asshole and appealing to the lowest common denominator of its audience.

So something that runs Windows
EvilHomer
Mobile handheld gaming?! What will Nintendo think of next!

If this thing is an actual game console and not a fucking conduit for piles of shovelware garbage like "Barbie's Bestest Shopping Day" and "NINJA GINGERBREAD DUDEZ 2" I'd be all on board, but my confidence level is not too high.
Xenocide
You obviously haven't played Barbie's Bestest Shopping Day 2, which has the complexity and depth of 28 Skyrims.

What's interesting is how everything in the design, from the color to the logo to the name, seems designed NOT to invoke the Wii brand. Seems they learned their lesson when the Wii U was unveiled and the response was general confusion over whether it was a new console or just a Wii accessory.
memedumpster
This thing is so ragingly gimmicky that if any other console corp made it, it would signal their demise, but Nintendo is amazing in how they can make gimmicks work, so who knows.

Looks way more dignified than Xbone Slight Upgrade and Piss4.1.

Nintendo needs to pay the cost of shipping one to the ISS.

I hate handheld consoles, but a lot of games I like are often released exclusively for handheld, which forces me to then wait for a gameboy player type attachment to play on a TV. If this means the full and complete fusion of Nintendo's console and handheld into one, I'm all for it.
Kid Fenris
I am the opposite: I love handheld systems, and whenever a game I like comes along just for a console or PC, I'm a little bummed that I can't take it anywhere (conveniently).

chumbucket
Again, console makers...stop worrying about hardware gimmick, just bring us good f'ing games.
Ugh
the new zelda looks like the best tony hawk game in a decade, so i think i might just go for a nintendo console this time

Not seen, a kid trying to take the Switch outside and their parents stopping them because ha ha, that shit cost 300 dollars, no way you're taking it out there.
