Since my poling place was just a few blocks from where a bunch of yahoos had their open carry event a few summers back, I was a bit worried that someone with a rifle would be there. Thankfully there wasn't.

On a related note: check out the news of the GOP claiming that polling places being kept open late (like the LAW says you're supposed to it if you have lines) is "rigging the election."

Old_Zircon - 2016-11-08 Yeah I started voting absentee this year, sine they closed over 2/3 of the polling locations in the state with only a couple days notice. It's really easy here and you don't need to provide a reason, unlike some states.

Whatever you did in the ballot box, the actions you guys took today had no real effect and will make no tangible difference on the future whatsoever, other than soothing your conscience and, by giving you the illusion of agency, making you further internalize your own enslavement.
Today, I cleaned my kitchen, gave five dollars to a homeless lady, leveled a 3D printer bed, bought some fairtrade cookie butter, introduced a man on the bus to Screaming Lord Sutch, and started painting a custom Funko Pop figurine for a sick friend. I did similar things yesterday, and can do all this (and more) again tomorrow. Why pray for some external political actor to intercede and shape the world on our behalf, when we already have that power within us?
