I click on this, and what's the first thing I see? Zap Rousdower.

Everything's going to be okay.

Eh..I'm kinda disappointed they went with a "fan poll" this year as it means, "Oh, we get to see the same 5 or 6 episodes that fans can never ever shut the fuck up about."
I mean, yeah, I like Pod People and Final Sacrifice and all that shit, but christ you'd think these were the only episodes of MST ever produced if you go by half the fandom. Not to mention, all the episodes shown so far were already on the last two years marathons except Mitchell. Not a great track record for a show with, like, 100+ episodes.

Scrimmjob - 2016-11-24

Yeah, there are so many classic episodes, it sucks that Manos is the predictable #1. I feel like most of these I've seen 20 times or so.

I'm going to watch Sidehackers!

Worse, all the die hard fans are of the incorrect belief that the Joel episodes were the best!

Raggamuffin - 2016-11-24

I maintain that the Joel era had far and away better host segments, but the Mike era had better riffing.

Rosebeekee - 2016-11-25

Agreed Raggamuffin. I like them both, but I feel that's where they're strengths were.

Mike era all the way for me. Better riffing, at least one manly beach dance in the host segments, and a different class of movies. Joel movies tended to lack redeeming qualities; Mike movies were at least occasionally failed attempts at quality. (We've talked on occasion about how "Girl in Gold Boots" does a great many things well, such as establish character early and let the drama unfold from character until it reaches an appropriate ending.)

garcet71283 - 2016-11-25

Or how the tape for Timechasers was actually sent to Best Brains because the creators were legitimately proud of the film....which made riffing it all the more sweet.

Although it makes sense that Mikes riffing was better and Joel's hosting was better, given their respective background as a writer and standup comedian.

Bort - 2016-11-25

"Timechasers" wasn't a bad little film; its biggest problem was that it was low-budget. (Its second biggest problem is that nobody really cares about time loop shenanigans unless you can come up with an intriguing angle.) I'd rather see the riffing on that than on, say, "Mighty Jack" or "Time of the Apes" which were just junk films.

I've never had the opportunity to fanboy out on a celebrity, but I'm not sure whether I'd go more mental if I met Amy Poehler or Matthew Bruch. And don't even get me started on Bruce "Rowsdower" Mitchell.

Rosebeekee - 2016-11-24

What a coincidence that the episodes that were voted were an alternating, equal number of Joel and Mike episodes. Also, you could tell what episodes they were going to show because they were all mentioned in one of the commercials they kept airing.

Lurchi - 2016-11-25

confession: I was a "film purist" who distained MST3K until I sat down and watched an episode (Amazing Colossal Man)

Lurchi - 2016-11-25

apparently distain and disdain are some Berenstain Bear shitcgoddamnithjustfyckyou
