This is a pretty terrible remix, TBH. No air at all. Granted, there's probably no good source materials (stems, a capellas etc) right now.

Really great remixes don't denature their source, but pull strands out and accentuate what was unique. Prince played with space and syncopation, he was basically known for composing rich orchestrations and then eliminating all but the essential from the mix: this fills those spaces with filtered metronomic sounds. A better remix would subtract more from the original.

I think there's a lot of great remixes that will emerge from the Prince corpus. But the best will be more Prince than Prince. Sparse to an alien degree. Probably a bit dubby.
