@bongo: his form is OK, but yes pretty amateur level climbing for a cat. Our neighbor's barn cat has fallen madly in love with me, and follows me around like a dog when I go outside. I climb the rung ladder to get up on the roof, he's right behind me. Then when I'm done, he gets ahead of me and climbs down.

Of course, he doesn't really need the ladder, he can climb directly up the side of the house. But then, if he does this, he's not right in front of me, which is essential. Hence the ladder.
