It's the first of the "Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe" featuring Russell Crowe as Van Helsing.
I guess this means, somewhere down the line, we will see The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and Frankenstein's Monster all teaming up to do....something?
I was under the impression that Dracula Untold was the first, but looking at it now I guess it was clarified a couple of months ago that that was just the wishful thinking of the producer.
Which is kind of too bad, because that movie had some tiny amount of substance that action shlock like this lacks.
I don't understand why Tom Cruise is popular. At all. I've never liked him in anything except for Interview with a Vampire. And that was way better than this crud.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Tom Cruise becoming a perfect daywalking immortal has Scientology written all over it somehow.
