SolRo - 2016-12-24 And congress falls for it every time.
dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-12-24 Not going to argue that this reeks of a scam like all those "SEND MONEY TO FEED THIS STARVING LITTLE GIRL THAT I FLEW HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD IN MY PRIVATE JET TO TAKE PICTURES WITH WHILE WEARING A THREE PIECE SUIT" infomercials back in the 90s, especially because of the bit about how every box contains a note about how it was sent from God-fearing Christians and Jews in America (because lord knows none of us other heathens would ever spend a dime to help anyone!) which makes it clear who they're targeting and on which guilt trip basis they're trying to coax money out of them, but you may be surprised to know that Israel does in fact have a great deal of poverty and their government does spend shitloads of money defending themselves from people who long have and probably always will want them dead simply for being Jews, but that doesn't make the idea of famine in Israel any less ludicrous.
All that being said, this is pretty much the would be horseshit equivalent of some American celebrity like Katy Perry going through the ghettos of Detroit or Cleveland to shoot a video of people fighting in quickstop parking lots asking people in other countries to send donations to the USA because "LOOK AT ALL THESE POOR HUNGRY AMERICANS IN POVERTY THEY NEED FOOD PLEASE HELP!"
SolRo - 2016-12-24 I think Israel would have a lot less defense spending if they weren't defending illegal settlements in occupied land and made peace with the Palestinians (real peace, not 'we get to steal your land and you give us all your weapons' peace)
Rosebeekee - 2016-12-24 METV tag maybe? They've aired some pretty Poe worthy commercials for local businesses late at night.
Bort - 2016-12-24 Done! Though MeTV is far from unique in its odd commercials and I wonder if there's a more general tag we could be using.
bawbag - 2016-12-24 I don't know enough about this org to make a take on it but they do quite well on charity navigator FWIW.
