Too depressing to be funny. Even the parts I laughed at.

godot - 2016-12-30

Cunk was a little off her game, too.

Anaxagoras - 2016-12-30

I liked the bit where the most powerful country in the world elected a tangerine supremacist.

cognitivedissonance - 2016-12-30

Oh, Philomena Cunk, when I am king, you shall be my bride.

Old_Zircon - 2016-12-30

50:40 is amusing enough but it sure makes me miss the days of EBN, when that kind of video edit was more than just "edit together some funny couplets and put a beat under it" which seems like it's all anyone does anymore. I guess it's a case of it being too easy or something.

SolRo - 2016-12-30

It's a case of getting more ad money by making things both sides can spread to their Facebook friends because it be interpreted as attacking either side.

Same as the 24 hour news services...can't say directly someone is lying, just have to get two pundits on to argue about it.

GravidWithHate - 2016-12-30

I just re-watched 2015 wipe. At this rate 2018 wipe is just going to be Charlie Brooker sat topless at a desk, alternating between slugging down shots of cheap liquor, cursing, cutting himself with a razor, and uncontrollably sobbing.

Lurchi - 2016-12-30

doubt he's going to survive 2017

Maggot Brain - 2016-12-30

I couldn't watch the election segment.

rsdoss - 2016-12-30

Jesus you're all(some) a bunch of fucking weepy, congested and itchy vaginas. Learn to appreciate a little absurdism in your realities. This is a solid de-pantsing of the 2016 hysterics and if you "couldn't watch the election segment" or this was "too depressing to be funny" maybe you need to take a step back and realize that the entirety of human history is full of pompous bullshit like this and we all need to quit freaking out and just be cool to our fellow man.
Some of you are acting like the election of a buffoon like Donald Trump is some unprecedented fuckery.
It's human nature. If you don't like it, run for office.

(Note: This was primarily aimed at SolRo and Maggot Brain and Anaxagoras from a guy who's been a lurking fan of this site since "Pretty Much Everywhere, It's Gonna Be Hot 2008")

Just a bunch of fucking blubbering vaginas these days. Shit.

rsdoss - 2016-12-30

I should clarify that I like vaginas.

SolRo - 2016-12-30

"we all need to quit freaking out and just be cool to our fellow man."

you say this in the context of the next president of a nuclear armed country running on and winning with the message of 'we all need to freak out and be massive assholes to our fellow man'.

and speaking of blubbering vaginas, said president freaks out all over twitter when someone criticizes him or a comedy show makes fun of him.

rsdoss - 2016-12-30

...Yeah? I don't like him either.

bawbag - 2016-12-30

"It's human nature. If you don't like it..." and are a religious or sexual minority, a woman or PoC it's about to get really fucking real; we're alright jack, pull up the ladder.

How much tonnage does this invisible knapsack hold?

15th - 2016-12-30

I doubt Trump will be substantially worse than many presidents we've had. He just doesn't bother to conceal his arrogance, contempt and ego.

A year into it private interests will be calling the shots and we'll be watching bomb ass Marvel movies.

Live Mas

SolRo - 2016-12-30

Yeah, I didn't want to devolve into a complete rant, but the fuckheads that always say "XYZ wont be so bad" are always the fuckheads that wont be directly screwed by XYZ.

And just to shortcut to the inevitable end, I'm sure there were plenty of liberal germans with blonde hair and blue eyes that thought this crazy idiot Adolf wouldn't be so bad.

15th - 2016-12-30

>>And just to shortcut to the inevitable end. [Nazi Germany]

Okay, maybe I was being a little stupid, but that's a bit munch.

rsdoss - 2016-12-30

How much tonnage does...what? Look perhaps I should clarify: I didn't vote for Trump and I don't agree with his rhetoric. I just think y'all are pussies, that's all.

Trump won. That's a problem. If you're too depressed to listen to a description re: how he won then you're kind of a blubbering vagina. That's all I'm saying. Also that this video is entertaining and if you can't stand to watch it because you're too "depressed" then go fuck off you simpering infant.

Since this website isn't exactly geared towards political correctness I'll be blunt: Trump won because his strategists were better than Clinton's and his message resonates with a sizable chunk of the population (yes, not the majority of the population, but that's not the contest here).

If your response to the reality that his message resonated with a sizable chunk of the population is "Isn't it terrible how this nonsense tricked so many people" then you're a vapid piece of shit who isn't doing this country any good.

Maybe think about why so many people voted for him and how we can include them in the political process in the future so this embarrassing nonsense doesn't happen again.

Or queef on sparsely-populated internet video message boards about how you couldn't stand to watch a satirical internet video because it made you too depressed and see if that makes the world a better place.

Vaginas.

SolRo - 2016-12-31

The reason trump won is that the center and left didn't come out to (and to some extent prevented by republican voter suppression) vote, and a bunch that did were fucking moron protest voters.

It's the reason most of the polls were wrong. When pressed by a pollster people made a sane choice but being pressed and voluntarily giving up time going out to vote are two different things.

Again we saw the idiotic tendency of idiotic Americans to ignore any election that wasn't personally gratifying to them.

Americans are so god damn stupid that they consider joining the military a patriotic freedom-defending duty but think voting is an unnecessary boring thing for boring political people and grandparents.

But do keep being a retard and think that trump won because the left defended minorities too much or didn't praise anti intellectualism enough.

Also my original comment was a joke and you are too god damn stupid to get it

Scrimmjob - 2016-12-31

rsdoss speaks truths.

15th - 2016-12-31

The 'joke' that the US is approaching Nazi Germany has been retold countless times this last year. Forgive me if after the nth time hearing I might mistake it as hyperbole.

You know voter turn out wasn't the issue right?

We lost. We lost "fairly" as the system stands. So I think the smart thing to do would be reexamine the election process and the sad fart that is the Democratic Party.

Of course, it's much easier blaming individuals that probably share 70% of your ideals. They need to get to 100%.

Bort - 2016-12-31

"The 'joke' that the US is approaching Nazi Germany has been retold countless times this last year. Forgive me if after the nth time hearing I might mistake it as hyperbole. "

Somehow you can overlook the actual literal Neo-Nazis supporting Trump. That -- along with all the rest of his openly xenophobic, bigoted rhetoric, and his chummy relationship with an openly xenophobic, bigoted tyrant -- should be cause for alarm.

Do I expect Trump to try to conquer Mexico or put Muslims in ovens? No. It's not necessary for us to follow the Nazi playbook in every way, for the comparisons to hit too close to home.

15th - 2016-12-31

>>Somehow you can overlook the actual literal Neo-Nazis supporting Trump.

Yes, because they are a completely insignificant minority.

The garden variety racists that support Trump is a different story....

The White House has maintained relationships with governments and military forces that are way, way worse than Russia. B real.

I'm not advocating for or defending Trump and I'd wager his presidency is going to damage our country.

But, being belligerent, charismatic and blowing that racist dog whistle does not equate to someone that systematically murdered millions of people and wished to take the world by military force.

An "evil" person that rises to power with grass root support can always parallel Hitler from the opposition's perspective. See Obama.

Bort - 2016-12-31

"An "evil" person that rises to power with grass root support can always parallel Hitler from the opposition's perspective. See Obama."

You are officially arguing that concerns about Trump pulling this country in a xenophobic direction that imposes new hardships on its people, is equivalent to worrying that Obama is a secret Muslim who is going to use FEMA camps to enslave white people.

I think SolRo called it, you are so far removed from the consequences of Trump that you don't really give a damn whom he hurts. I know plenty of minorities who are worried what four years of Trump are going to bring; there's not only the policies that Trump can enact, there's also Trump's emboldening the Right to start harassing minorities, which you know damn well has already started.

The only reason you aren't a Teabagger already is that you aren't making enough money to be worried about your taxes. I've said it before, and I have yet to see any reason to back down from it.

15th - 2016-12-31

No, I think the concerns about Trump are very real.

I'm just saying ridiculous Hitler stuff is still ridiculous. It was off the charts fucking loony in regards to Obama, this time less so. Still dumb.

You make a lot of assumptions about who and what I care about, Bort. The election is over, I'm trying to dial down the emotion and hope for the best. I didn't and still don't support Trump - but that's not good enough.

>>The only reason you aren't a Teabagger already is that you aren't making enough money to be worried about your taxes.

Yah got me.

What consequences of the Trump election will you suffer? Grandstanding overload?

Bort - 2016-12-31

Like I already said, I don't expect Trump to follow the Nazis' exact playbook by any stretch of the imagination. That said, I guess I don't see where the comparisions are ridiculous. Is it because he's the leader of the most powerful party in America, one that shows no inclination to stand up to him? Maybe it's how he is visibly unstable, and how he's already tweeting about his "enemies" rather than his critics? Is it because he has fanned the flames of xenophobia and bigotry, and his faithful are already working to intimidate and threaten minorities? Perhaps the ridiculous part is how he's an ally to a Russian tyrant? Maybe the ridiculous part is how WWII survivors see a lot in common between the rise of Trump and the rise of the Nazis?

Or perhaps the funny part is how Trump has the ability to cause harm on a scale Hitler never could: he has nuclear codes, or less directly, he could simply fuck up the environment to an extent that climate change can no longer be slowed down.

In four years, if Trump proves to be a minimally harmful president, then fair enough, I was wrong to doubt the big lug. But only a goddamn idiot would be dismissive of the harm he is positioned to cause.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-01-01

If you're looking for a political analogue and don't want to go the nuclear option with Hitler: try Juan Peron. Trumps are quite common in Latin American politics and are often associated with resource extraction companies. See Rex Tillerson et al.

15th - 2017-01-01

Russians defeated the Nazis! Checkmate.

Honestly, Bort, those are all scary things. Eat shit, 2016.

Happy New Years

yogarfield - 2016-12-31

Kudos for them getting Brian Cox into a Moments of Wonder bit, seeing as how they are a direct parody of his style of programming.

betamaxed - 2016-12-31

Seems to be a lot of obsession with vaginas in the discussion. Reading the comments here abstractly feels like walking through a gallery full of Georgia O'Keeffe paintings.

kingarthur - 2016-12-31

I, for one, CANNOT WAIT, until the political bullshittery around here dies down. I think you guys are all on the blaming (anger) portion of the grief process and I'll patiently wait until you all get to acceptance and want to do something other than complain.

Anaxagoras - 2016-12-31

Well, in this thread alone we have:

* Commentary on Philomena Cunk (Twice!)
* A couple mild jokes about the American political process
* Finger-wagging about... I'm not sure what. But he (or she) is definitely wagging his (or her) finger at the rest of the site users about something.
* Commentary about the overall tone of Wipes
* Commentary about Brian Cox (who is awesome, by the way)

Seems like there's already plenty of other stuff happening besides complaining. Maybe you should try reading the threads as they're written, rather than how you see them in your mind's eye.

jfcaron_ca - 2016-12-31

Since comments on PoeTV are now 90% metacommentary, instead of about the videos themselves, I will post this link to an entertaining webcomic whose post from today was relevant to said metacommentary:
