project veritas and "journalism"
shrike the halls
Undercover journalism is a form of journalism in which a reporter tries to infiltrate in a community by posing as somebody friendly to that community. The role of undercover journalism has become the topic of much debate as moral and ethical lines have been crossed.
Journalism's first obligation is to tell the truth.
Its first loyalty is to the citizens.
Its essence is discipline of verification.
Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover.
It must serve as an independent monitor of power.
It must provide a forum for public criticism and compromise.
It must strive to make the news significant, interesting, and relevant.
It must keep the news comprehensive and proportional.
Its practitioners must be allowed to exercise their personal conscience.
and editing that footage into false, dishonest hitpiece is?
Fuck right off with this alt-reich bullshit EH's new alt.
O'Keefe and co, as always full. of. shit http://www.snopes.com/2017/01/18/dueling-stings/
James O'Keefe. You should know better and you probably do.

The only crime I'm seeing is that fucker eating Cheetos right next to the mic
But really, if this inauguration is doomed to a chilly reception, low attendance... do they really need to hand DJT such an easy excuse for it?
shrike the halls
I think it's fair to say that alot of the behavior on display during anti-DJT rallies served to galvanize many on-the-fence independents and move them into Trump's camp. For the record, I'm not a Trump supporter
of course you think that.
you also think propaganda from a known charlatan is news.
shrike the halls
I really don't understand how exposing illegal scheming is propaganda.
you really are evilhomer, fucking tool.
Miss Henson's 6th grade class
How totally legit can this totally illegal scheming be if there's tons of footage on it on the internet? These guys do not have a future as criminals or revolutionaries.
shrike the halls
I'm assuming you're all a bit riled up due to tomorrow being the inauguration but I really felt like I stepped into a viper's pit here...I have been accused of being 2 different people who I have no idea who they even are so far...can someone fill me in on who Orcs and EH are?
No, we're riled up by your allegedly unironic posting of this utter bullshit from O'Keefe. Expect a lot more of it if this is the quality of your debut.
HOW CAN IT BE PROPAGANDA WHEN IT'S PANDERING TO ME SO SUCCESSFULLY?

"Journalism's first obligation is to tell the truth."
And naturally the best people to pursue that truth is a bunch of quasi fascists shitheads who use the white power/nationalist code word "Veritas" which is all over the place (especially in Germany where it starting to take on a decidedly menacing tone).
So where was this pursuit of truth when it came to Trump's criminal ties to Russia? Or his laundering fronts for American mobsters? Or stealing donation funds from dying children?
Oh but a bunch of facebook anarchists said they might "disrupt" the inauguration so that's totally worth it.
Fuck you. Fuck your narrative, and fuck your "I don't support DJT, I just enable him because I am a gutless coward" bullshit.
shrike the halls
It's not my narrative, seems pretty straightforward, I mean are they planning to use butyric acid and chain down the metro rails or not?
|duck&cover - 2017-01-19 |
It is good to disrupt the activities of Trump and his fascist cronies.
Full disclosure , I didn't watch the video and I don't give a shit.
Historically, national leaders who make it a key point to strip rights away from a segment of the population based solely on their religion hasn't worked out so great.
How many days in office do they have to get in before we're allowed to call out what a piece of shit they are for it?

Homer, you really need some mental help, dude.

You guys no shit ran off EvilHomer? EvilHomer!? EvilFuckingHomer failed your identity politics social test oath dystopia?
HOMIE COME BACK!
This site is a reg-left echo chamber to the point to where you don't realize you act exactly like the alt-right with this social exile bullshit. You're not conservatives, you're not liberals, you're not progressive, you're authoritarians who cannot stand people being different outside your control.
At least with Trump, he wont get a free pass on every horrible act he takes, unlike the complete free pass Obama got for being a complete war mongering police-statesman.
Yep. To be fair, EvilHomer was deep in the throes of one of his EvilHomerings, but rather than ignore it and wait for the squall to pass, Bawbag decided to become POETV cop and drive him off. You can see how in the previous thread with Nappy. Frankly, Bawbag is a bully, and he's driving contributing users from the site.
The hipper kids than I call them "crybullies." I don't mind a drop down drag out verbal brawl, so long as it's not a call to violence against that person or some other shit. It's a fine line between acknowledging words can drive people off and insisting they really don't have that power. So long as people are there to yell back, it seems to balance out over time.
Homie gets cynical sometimes and he goes full Brando. He opens an argument with a logical fallacy, and if you miss it, he will wreck your conversation.
PoeTv election 2016 has taught me that neither side of the aisle has a monopoly on misanthropic disdain for everyone that is an "other."
Horseshoe Theory is gaining some real traction, and suddenly being liberal/libertarian now makes you a political moderate. Libertarians amaze me, because on the Venn diagram of liberal ideals, they cover 99% with classical liberals, but are so cynical against government that they reject it at a Federal level. This was actually a prediction made by the founders in their writing, saying these people would come to exist when the country became too authoritarian towards its own people. I am learning by going back and reading the political philosophers that political philosophy is one of the few branches of philosophy that make actual testable predictions, like Kant did with the nature of knowledge. That alone blew my mind. It is fascinating as all fuck.
I think this country just took a huge step towards being liberal by giving the authoritarians of both wings enough ink to discredit themselves. This is the power of uncensored speech, we all get to hear it, and I think the founders knew this was a worthy mechanic to balance society. Authoritarians can only thrive under censorship, and saying "the king is a fink" is an inoculation against kings.
So the solid half of the country that hates both major parties is watching them implode as they try and use each other to justify oppressing everyone.
It's really unfortunate EH was driven off. He was an ideal casualty of this ongoing witch hunt - he could not only see multiple angles of an issue, he could argue them well and was willing to engage with anyone. He had to be cleansed. Sure, some of the positions he took were bullshit and purely for sport, but it was top shelf bullshit.
I can't tell if some of you tools really have managed retroactively to tell yourself that
A) EH was only an annoying clown when he started his whole god emperor-spiel
B) this site somehow ever was not a house of in-fighthing
Yeah, he annoyed the piss out of me sometimes, I still liked the guy. I'm fighting with people on this site as I type.
Not you though, you're cool.
meme, you used to be cool but now you are doing the whole reg-left identity politics bullshit. not cool.
IDPOL was formed when the commies, nazis and yankees kept beating up the minorities, gays and the women all the while telling them they should focus on the bigger issues.
Trump is the evidence that these causes are still needed and it is not regressive since it has never been allowed to regress. 99% of assholes talking about it online have never heard the word before 2016.
What does that tell you?
Miss Henson's 6th grade class
My own two cents: I've enjoyed Homer's posts in the past, but as time went on, his posts got longer and wordier, his contrarianism more obvious, the positions he took more hysterical and annoying. As 15th said, he could indeed see many sides of an issue. But if you see so many sides nobody can tell where the hell you are and aren't sure if you know, then the doctors have a name for that. I tend to think the guy was Going Through Some Things, so I'm sympathetic to a point. But having him here was beginning to make this joint a whole lot less enjoyable than it had been.
I wish him well, hope he comes back, and pray that he's doing better. But it sounded to me like the dude needed to Talk To Someone.
It tells me you disagree that authoritarianism is bad even if the side you agree with does it. That the ends justify the means. I see it differently, that the means are the ends and the stated ends are a lie, an excuse. It looks obvious to me when the means are the same means employed by the so-called enemy.
The reg-left exists, and they are not liberal or progressive. They are authoritarians, like the religious right, and they have co-opted certain terms and causes to push their agenda, like the religious right does, and they seek power to enforce this on others, again like the religious right. They have test oaths, exiles of dissenters, and more and more call for direct violence. Many have become preppers and bought guns.
The minimum wage was created to keep immigrants from getting jobs, should immigrants not make minimum wage? Birth control was first championed by eugenicists who didn't think the undesirables should breed, who do you think should be denied the right to breed? I bet it's someone. The atomic bomb was created to end WWII, surely North Korea is guarding global freedom, then, right? Time has an arrow and the context of things change. Right now in history, identity politics is authoritarianism, and the bigger picture is that dissent is now on the verge of justifying violence.
Again, like so many, you use crimes of action against people as an excuse to enforce criminalizing words. Pure authoritarianism.
I almost missed this post in the walls of text from last night, but allegedly I 'drove him off' by script-ignoring his procedurally-generated spam in every post for a few months and offering others the ability to do so (see my Noam Chomsky submission), so I'm literally hitler rather than a guy with a mute button.
Or you can look at the last conversations he had and determine from that why he decided to take a break.
As for being a bully, the guy took a verbal swing at me before I'd even remarked on the thread, so I gave right back. If that's bullying guilty as fucking charged and I regret not one iota of it.
Also the rest of the word salad in here about witch hunts, authoritarianism, eugenics, reg-left and more but it's the 'SJWs' who sound shrill and hysterical, jesus dude are y'all self-medicating or what?

Also, could "Legba Carrefour" possibly be a real name? I say "no way!" No more than Josephus Stop'n'Shoup could be, anyway.
