Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
Ah damn it I meant 30th

I'm a big fan of your second post. It made me feel 15 years younger than I did five seconds prior.

I just looked this up last week because it is true.
Yeah, I've definitely thought of this more than once this week alone in reference to current events.

There are two kinds of people in this world, but the only kind worth even mentioning are the kind who understand the brilliance of Spaceballs.

Was it big in the box office in its time? I don't remember the reviews being all that great, but the movie seems to have lasted and become quotable over the years.

It did okay at the time. It earned back its budget but didn't make much beyond that. For some reason more people went to see the Dan Akroyd movie version of Dragnet that weekend.

All those people are dead now.

i don't think any movie has used "shit" and "bullshit" better

Barf introduced me to this movie, read about him in a tabloid and had to see what his character was about. I liked him a whole lot, with his tail, and ears that actually moved like a real Dog's!

Boomer, this could only ever be your post.

I guess you're right, where are all the other Dog fans?

Not only did I read about it in the Enquirer or the Star tabloid, I saved the piece in my Dog stuff! Here's the copy:

This got me the most interested in the movie, but I also heard ads for it on the radio.

Whats amazing is that, despite at it's simplest just being a parody of Star Wars and one long dick joke, it's a remarkably competent sci-fi adventure on it's own merits and really holds up well, even if some of the jokes are showing their age.

The SFX still look great, the actors all hit the perfect notes, and it has a good self-contained storyline with a classic hero arc.

As I get older, I actually appreciate this movie more for being a fun vaudeville sci-fi romp than simply "haha, that was in Star Wars!"

While not Mel Brooks' best movie, it stands as my favorite and most watchable.

It defientely has a more coherent plot than most modern tent-pole action movies

What's great about Spaceballs is that Mel Brooks made a sci-fi movie first and a bunch of Star Wars jokes second. Most of his movies can be enjoyed as standalone fare, which is more than I can say for the Aaron Seltzer/Jason Friedberg era of taking everything you remember from that year and dumping poop and cum all over it.

I might as well say it right here: Winnebago? Much cooler than the Millennium Falcon.

I found a review of this movie that I wrote for school when I was like 10 years old. My review made no sense at all and half of it was about how I thought certain visual effects were produced.
Also I had never seen Star Wars.

You could post that on a blog, stuff like that's cool.

My favorite part is Lonestar evaluating his one-liner.
