They all can't be Clone High.

Xenocide - 2017-03-11 But if they're clones, then they CAN all be Clone High!

So dry I tried give it water. It's fine, my keyboard was already fucked up.

Why are generic jock, nerd, fratboy and slacker stereotypes all inseparable best friends?
Also why do they all have such awful voices? They all speak with the same dead lack of inflection, and all share a complete ineptitude at comic timing.
In the course of my EXTENSIVE INVESTIGATIONS (30 seconds on wikipedia) I learned that almost every male character on the show has the same voice actor, who also created the series. It's like Rick and Morty, except terrible!
|
Scrimmjob - 2017-03-12 It seems like the guy is pretty obsessed with bringing the show back as well, as recently as 2013 it seems.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2017-03-11
So, I'm guessing that was this made by one of those studios that make the mockbuster versions of Disney films you see in bargain bins.

This is painful in a sort of "Garfield without Garfield Otaku Fanservice" sort of way.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-03-11
I like how the main character is clearly designed as a post-adolescent Doug Funnie, right down to his choice of fashion being a green sweater over a t-shirt.
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-03-12 I think Doug would probably grow up to be a 30 year old virgin and peeping tom.

Scrimmjob - 2017-03-11
I must have wiped this from my memory, but about 20 seconds in all the terribleness came crashing back. They used to play this on comedy central and for one reason or another I've seen multiple episodes. Mediocre in every way imaginable.

I feel like Canada has produced disproportionately more truly terrible garbage than other countries and disproportionately less good stuff. Talking music, TV, etc. etc. Am I being unfair?
|
animegurl1000 - 2017-03-12 Canada has some kind of content quota law which requires Canadian TV networks to air a certain percentage of TV shows that are written, produced and directed in Canada. Because of this, a lot of dumb unwatchable shit just gets rubberstamped.
Meanwhile US TV networks, always desperate for content to fill their schedules, look to the treasure trove up north.

Confession, I liked this show a lot when it was new.
Is it too simplistic to say that our best talent usually go to Los Angeles or New York? That's where the funding is. Our own Walk of Fame consists almost entirely of people who left early in life and rarely came back.
|
cognitivedissonance - 2017-03-12 That is a trend that has come to sudden, precipitous halt and likely to reverse.
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-03-12 At least until the Zoolander clone they voted in as prime minister drives the economy into the ground. It will be a fun race to see who plummets over the financial cliffs first!

I remember when this was on MTV here in the US. I remember trying to watch it at least three times but after about five minutes I always got bored and moved on to something else.

This is up there for me for my list of "most hated animated series". There is something so incredibly off about the way they portray college. It's like if the Ctr Alt Delete guy had a bigger budget. I hate this show. I hate the way they're drawn. I hate every character on this show. I especially hate the residential adviser. This came out when I was in college and all I was able to experience was stress for the most part, I don't relate to this at all. At least with dumb 80s college campus comedies, you get something so fantastical it's like watching another universe. This crap? You can't relate to it, and it's not funny in the slightest. What the hell was the point of it?
I hate this show, and I give all five of my stars exploding into supernovas to the remains of it, wherever it is. And when this planet is torn into pieces, I will thank God because there will be no trace of this show anymore. (the same goes for Ctrl Alt Delete)

The guy who made this is a crazoid who somehow got a TV deal based on nothing, and has spent the last decade and a half trying to get this garbage back on the air.

Oooooh fuck I remember this when it was on. It was right when I got to college.
There was a slew of godawful wacky zany college hijinks shows that all came out at once in the early 00s. Undergrads, Undeclared, and Undressed. Why did they all start with "Un"? Code for "unfunny"?
There was also a 4th one that I can't remember the name too. It was this cartoon that resembled the ugly character design of Rugrats. Most of the men looked like The Farside kid, and the main recurring joke was that this hideous butch unibrow girl wanted to fuck the main character. What is it with these things ripping off Doug?
|
Rangoon - 2017-03-14 You're thinking of "3 South", as seen on (you guessed it) MTV.
|
Nominal - 2021-03-11 Oh god
"The series was created by Family Guy veteran writers Mark Hentemann, loosely based on Mark's college days at Miami University. It is the only animated series produced for MTV by Warner Bros. Animation. Creator Mark Hentemann would later go on to create Bordertown for Fox, which also ran for just one season. "
