TCM is the best channel and he was the best host.
He was the only reason I didn't flip past TCM in my cable-owning flip channel days.
Old people who have been on TV forever, just get older. In your head it's nothing you didn't know, but you don't always think about it because you get used to them always being there.

Anyone who was in a TV show in the 1970s (for example Bob Newhart), they're probably in their 70s or 80s now.
Let's not even think about classic rock: the Rolling Stones, the surviving Beatles (Paul / Ringo / Pete), Bee Gee, Palmer ... even Steven Tyler, on the young end of all that, is 68.
