Very glad they didn't update the effects.

I was excited. Then I learned Patton oswalt was in it and I was ecstatic.
BiggerJ - 2017-03-22
When Joel messaged Patton saying he wanted him to play TV's Frank's son, Patton responded by rapidly mashing his phone's virtual keyboard. He later insisted the character be named TV's Son of TV's Frank.

I still watch the old episodes daily (while working).
My brother's 25-year-old girlfriend had never heard of it. Whipersnapper.
Hope this lives up.

I've got high hopes, hoping the cynic in me won't find 3000 reasons to hate it.

I believe that this can't miss IF the people involved love Mystery Science Theater. And who doesn't? The formula is essentially bulletproof. The formula has survived cast changes network changes and format changes. It's not rocket science, folks.

I once attempted a Mystery Science Theater, fan fiction novel. it was to be entitled Mystery Science Theater: The Search for Frank At the time I'd never heard of fanfiction, and I thought I was doing something dangerously illegal.

I did write a whole novel once, about an old man who was in a projectionist in a porno theater. If I was to sum up my novel in one word, that word would be "bad".

Old man in projection booth at porno theater sounds like a good premise.

I wrote a sci-fi epic once, where the galaxy was ruled by arbitrarily chosen queens chosen by lottery from all humanoid females. The problem was that in this story, they chose a five year old girl. She ruled the galaxy with the same ruthlessness as a five year old girl.

I worked at a Hentai theatre for a little while but didn't learn projection until Landmark bought me.. I really don't miss any of that. But if your story involves the rescue of Goldfish (actual fish in a bag not the crackers).. well who brings fish to watch Hentai movies with anyway!

What the hell I'll give it a twirl. I never cared about the non-movie segments to be honest.

Patton Oswalt? Oh, I am SO teased right now!
Louddetective - 2017-03-23
This looks SO good, it gave me chills. I can't wait.

Oh god there's gonna be a third host to join the immortal debate.
cognitivedissonance - 2017-03-23
Elliott Kalan is head writer. That seals the deal for me.

I can barely describe how happy I am that they're going to do an episode on Reptilicus. That is such a perfect MST3K movie that I can't believe it took this long in the first place.
Quad9Damage - 2017-03-23
Can't wait. Hope it doesn't suck.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-03-23
Every time I have tried to introduce this show to someone in real life, they hate it.

I am so happy seeing this I could cry.
Chocolate Jesus - 2017-03-23
setting is important, maybe they just hate you

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2017-03-24
No, it's just been bad luck!

Everyone LOVES me, Chocolate Jesus. You would love me, too!

I was pretty cautious.. after the disappointing W Bob and David and working both a KITH reunion and Flight of the Concords live show it was my firm belief that context is everything and that classic comedy should remain solely in reruns. But MST3K is different I guess since making fun of movies is something that most people can do stoned at 3am watching Night Court, but like a comedy version of Jackass they did it first.

I mean.. the robot friends help things out a lot though. First season's on Netflix now and besides some vhs lying around somewhere it's stuff i haven't seen unless they reaired in on Sci Fi. I refuse to spell it the way the network does now.

Scrimmjob - 2017-03-24
IZ, when you said they uploaded season 1 of mst3k I thought it was an odd choice, because the show took a little while to get into the swing of being any good at all. I checked it out, and while it says it's season 1, it actually turns out to be kind of a greatest hits. Neat! Higher quality than the episodes you can get on youtube!

memedumpster - 2017-03-23
Those MST3K fan films that made the rounds a while back taught me that it only takes one episode to get used to new hosts and voices, and so long as the format (robits, satellite, Forresters, evil lair, movies, riffs, and skits) stays the same, by the second episode the brain just accepts it and moves on.

I am stoked.
