this guy follows me on tumblr. he seems pretty cool.
Man, the animation style is like what Brad Neely should be growing into.
nah. minimalism worked great for him. he just needs to be funny instead of weird-for-the-sake-of-weird. and writing characters w/ actual pathos again would help

He peaked at "Wizard People", then jumped the shark at China IL.

The original draft of Wizard People and the Babycakes cartoons are amazing, everything else I've seen (including the second version of Wizard People) never really grabbed me.

This (visually) reminds me a lot more of John K. than anything else, to be honest. the face animation in particular is straight out of season 1 Ren and Stimpy, there are some frames around 0:57 that are practically traces.

But then again probably a quarter of the American animation I've seen in the past 25 years owes a massive debt to season 1 of Ren and Stimpy, so that's not really a big criticism, more of an observation.

I thought the second version of Wizard People flowed a lot better than the first. It's where he really nailed down the narration and delivery. Oh how the wine talks.

@poorwill: it's not about the animation. Play this video with your eyes closed and it's still great (and surprisingly Neely-like). That's also true of Fuck the Humans, Washington, & Wizard People -- sure ain't true of China IL.
