Where's -this- movie? I actually want to see this one!

SolRo - 2017-05-01

also, lady, good job repairing the traitorous killbot but forgetting to fix that whole betray-you and murder-people thing his programming.

The Mothership - 2017-05-01

yea, SolRo.

Yes this was the trailer I kind of hoped would first come for Covenant. But it is feeling a bit like the series is doing a version of Monty Python's The Bishop as every time the team arrives wherever in the galaxy they are always playing it like "we were too late".

The Mothership - 2017-05-01

This told me absolutely nothing.

Well, you could look at it as either a lack of handholding or holding back a major plot point by just implying.

But to bluntly spell it out but the android is the sole one greeting the new planet. When she went nighty-night it was a little more permanent of a sleep. He'd seen to that. It's something they expect the viewer to just grok without scenes of sabotaging the pod or her remains.

I'm watching this movie just for the soul reason I get to see James Franco get killed by an original "black space penis" style alien.

So not-Bishop bombs the Nagivator homeworld with the xenomorph "virus" and the xenomorphs that we have in alien are what happens when a nagivator xenomorph impregnates a human.

In all honesty, you are probably giving the film too much credit. If Prometheus taught us anything it's that, as a fan, you have probably done 100 times more thinking about the plot in a few minutes than the writers did in weeks or months of putting the film together.

He undoubtedly bombs the planet, but how exactly we get from black goo to xenomorphs probably isn't really explained very well in the movie at all. They just are there and that's all they need to make the movie. (plus Scott is giving interviews saying some shit like "Oh you won't find out who *really* made the aliens until movie number 3!" or some shit.)

Well, I actually kinda liked Prometheus for what it was (and let's be honest, when it came out, we weren't exactly getting a lot of spacey sci-fi movies) and to me the alien lifecycle made ends.

Virus thing becomes worms which impregnates human makes giant facehugger which impregnates navigator which makes space jockey xenomorph. So I'm assuming, space jockey xenomorph lays eggs which produce facehuggers which impregnates humans which gives us giant black space penis with human teeth xenomorph.

I am ambivalent about this movie as it just seems to be Prometheus redux. I've seen nothing except this scene to convince me otherwise. Given my experience with prometheus, this scene will have just about fuck all to do with what happens in the movie.

Still, they've probably got me for an early bird Sunday screening.

Alien sure was a solid horror movie 38 years ago.
