cognitivedissonance Toothlessness. Television comedy is like television horror: it only exists because the audience agrees never to require it to go too far. If a show was genuinely satirical or genuinely frightening, they wouldn't let it be on television.
gmol I thought they demonstrated a lot of cartooning skill. Sure, dumb jokes but what did you expect for TV? I'm not going to ding him for not stretching the boundaries of experimental animation. There were a lot of settings and characters, that takes work and I thought it was high quality.
Rangoon Consultant Marty Murphy was a Playboy cartoonist for several decades and previously worked for H-B as a character designer on "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" and "Hong King Phooey".
infinite zest Yeah I was going to say that this has the PG13-ish humor of the Playboy ones, although the cartoon style reminds me more of the X-ish rated Hustler ones! I find this pretty fascinating because it probably solves the mystery of why H-B would be so cool with taking a kids show like Sealab and turning it into, well, a bunch of dick and drug jokes that'd eventually evolve into shows like Archer. On the flipside, I find this pretty horrifying because it is pretty horrifying, and shit like "Wait Til Your Father Gets Home" eventually evolve into shows like American Dad.
