How delightfully silly.

This is stupid Besson, not Taxi-Stupid Besson, which got the "3 Men and a Baby"/"Breathless" treatment of an actually OK French film, but just stupid, like Lockout!

This is legit one of my favorite movies of all time. Judge away.

I'm sorry the MNR showing of it was so troubled.

But, take the time to re-watch it, I find it's worth it.

Yeah. I feel there was a time where people expected so much from Besson, and Fifth Element/Professional, even Nikita (although the American remake and subsequent TV series was so much better) and as a result you sometimes get over-the-top faux-pretentious shit like Lucy or Angel A, two of the worst movies I've ever seen, at least in the theatre. But Taxi (the original, not the Jimmy Fallon Queen Latifa one), Wasabi and Lockout present Besson's true gift as someone who likes to do ask the hypothetique, as it were. What WOULD Escape from New York look like in a space jail full of frenchmen? Thanks to Besson we can find out!
