My girlfriend watches this show (her excuse is that she doesn't have cable (or even the big 3, just nbc and pbs and some weird John Walsh crimeshow network) and I'll admit I watch it too, even though I'm programmed to hate it. Hell, I even thought the perfect distopian portrayal of these shows in Black Mirror was pretty dumb and contrived. But I pretty much lost my shit when Puddles came on, my bong-rattled brain describing him as the product of an aging pagliacci who found love in a bathroom stall occupied by Leonard Cohen and that can't begin to describe him.

It's not like this is his first exposure to the spotlight by any means, but I found about him right fuckin here dagnabbit

Puddles made it on America's Got Talent? I remember when videos of him busking and playing little clubs were going around a few years ago. Anyways, it's a solid shtick.

I don't think it's exactly top secret that Puddles sometimes moonlights in a gimmick band called "Kingsized" where he pretends to be a very tall normal person named Mike Geier.

Yeah he kinda made a name for himself a few years ago, and his cover of 'Hallelujah' was posted a lot following Leonard Cohen's death, as it simply is one of the best covers of that song this side (and plane of existence) of Jeff Buckley. World of Dance is that way too, with plenty of youtube (and often professional) dancing sensations going on there as if they're just on the cheerleading team at your school and you never noticed them, which I thought was kinda the point of AGT. So maybe they should change the name to "America's Running Out of Talent." A really good friend of mine was actually on a show like this called Rock Star Supernova. She's awesome and all but she was already pretty well known if you paid much attention to non-top 40 music.

But I remember watching some super-pro doing some fucking thing on one of these shows and I wished they'd bring back the more amateurish 'Gong Show.' Well they are, and it's going to be like watching Tosh.0 if Mike Meyers was hosting most likely, and that's what the internets is here for.

The rare artist who deserves every bit of success s/he gets.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-07-19

True, that. Were I king of the world, he'd be on the top 40 radio programs. In this world, he's stuck somewhere in between the dancing dogs and the team cheerleaders.

Cut to the judges, cut to "random" audience, cut to the talking face backstage: the shock, the amazement, oh my! I dreamed a dream in times gone byyyyyyyyyyeeeee!!

I have to give Puddles 5 stars. He's a pretty cool guy and a talented performer without any gimmicks. The clown suit thing just adds a nice bit of surprise and cognitive dissonance.
