I'm horrified by the number of folks who are fine with the idea of scorched earth, just as long as it makes some dumb liberal cry.

That's all Trump's campaign was ever about. Ever. Don't let Jacobin or Vice or Salon or anyone else tell you any different or that Trump supporters had to go cry in a corner and vote for a fascist because Clinton said meanie poo poo head things about rednecks.

It was only ever about "scorched earth." It was (and is) only ever about taking from people or hurting people or oppressing people out of sociopathic grudge against other Americans who just aren't like them.

A vast majority of Trump supporters would vote themselves into a fucking gulag if they were reasonably sure it meant everyone they hate had to come along for ride too, and that's all it was EVER about.
