I didn't get Jake the Snake when he was in his prime.

"So... his schtick is that he has a snake? And he's kind of a dick? Really? And the crowd seems to genuinely like him? I am so in the weeds with this guy."

And every time I've seen him since his prime, he just seems to get sadder & sadder. I mean, seriously. I feel so bad for the guy.

He was baffling before, and now he's baffling & depressing. *sigh*

It was very hard to watch him struggle. Seen alcoholism kill friends. It's not a fun way to die at all.

Having seen him recently, its amazing to see how he's come back. Even over the last few years, he looks even better than before. I can only imagine how hard that recovery has been for him, or if it will take for good, but honestly, it's very heartening to see.
