The only Beck album I ever liked and still occasionally listen to is Sea Change.

It's good, Beck's dad did a really good job of channeling some of the less known depressive singer songwriters of the early 70s with his string arrangements, and Beck wrote his songs fast enough that he didn't have time to overthink it. Also he hadn't been back in Scientology long enough to ruin him as an artist yet.

Nah, This is Midnite Vultures era Beck.

As a long time Beckologist I can say with out a doubt that Beck peaked right around Sea Change, Paper Tiger is a progressive rock masterpiece. Since then he's been mostly about re-making Odelay or Sea Change in one way or another. He's put out a few good singles over the years and Songreader was a interesting idea but he's just not making good albums anymore.

I was trying to place the disturbing feeling I felt experiencing the pain of Undergrads.

Now I have it. Undergrades was someone making a completely terrible version of Mission Hill.

Considering Mission Hill was a C- at absolute best, that's pretty damning.

Watching this clip reminded me how I absolutely couldn't stand the wacky roommate character.
