I think we sometimes forget how *fucking hardcore* mammals in general are.
The basic mammal design is pretty much a *turbocharged* reptile.
We constantly burn calories at a greatly accelerated rate, and therefore have to eat much more often. A lot of reptiles can go months without eating, many small mammals have to eat like 1/2 their own bodyweight in food every day.
This is so inefficient and a huge burden, but the benefit is that mammals are highly active for a large part of the day, have the faster reflexes and a massive stamina advantage over reptiles.
