"Van men" has a totally different context in Britain. It's associated with racist right wing politics and economic protectionism. Real vannin' is a LOVING AND ACCEPTING LIFESTYLE. All you need is a van. And sometimes you don't even need a van! You just need a friend with a van!
Somehow the British meaning pisses me off far less than the insufferable types that are implied by the American meaning.
