A friend of mine once observed: "If I could send a description of my daily life back in time to before I was born, it would be the most hard core, avante-garde, sci-fi imaginable." He said it about 15 years ago. It has never stopped being true. It has never stopped getting more true.
Also, holy god, this is going to be an interesting developmental psychology experiment.
The general political and economic climate of the world would be too exaggerated to be Tom Clancy fiction 30 years ago.
I wouldn't have put money on us ending up with dystopian cyber-punk future but it's looking more and more like that's what we are going to get every year.
Was supposed to be a separate comment, but what the hell, sci-fi is sci-fi and the mirror sure is looking black.
You've slightly misstated things.
Language and culture are defined by the back & forth of how people create & use it. There is no "back and forth" between these AIs & real people; it's effectively a one-directional communication.
The fact that the work of AIs & people is almost indistinguishable doesn't mean that the AIs are almost people; it indicates just how impoverished most online discourse really is.
We thought AI would evolve to our level. We guessed the wrong group and the wrong direction.
I was joking with my singularity comment, I thought people would get it.
The children are being programmed by computers. Nice, real nice.
The edges of his beard are really distracting

Joke: the algorithms are creating weird creepy videos for children won't someone think of the children the algorithms are eating them.
Woke: the children are using algorithms to will terrible Youtube celebs into existence who will dare stop them.
Ah well, parents who just plop their kid in front of the Youtube, with autoplay on, having it coming.
