I guess now I understand why there's so much weird porn based on this show.

Xenocide - 2018-01-14

But how do you explain all the weird porn based on everything else Disney's ever made.

Chancho - 2018-01-14

ugh

Hugo Gorilla - 2018-01-14

I don't know what this show is about, but the torso with the chainsaw is pretty cool. Unfortunately he doesn't look like the lead character.

Xenocide - 2018-01-14

SPINOFF TIME.

Torso with a chainsaw! Fighting for her client! Wearing sexy miniskirts and being self-reliant!

Xenocide - 2018-01-15

Torso with a chainsaw! Having lots of seeeeeex!

Meerkat - 2018-01-14

(shrug)

This was actually worse in context, because the whole recurring bit behind this subplot was that Marco kept being mistaken for a princess by Miss Heinous in situations where his actual identity (he's not royalty, he's just some random kid from California) was obvious to everyone else but was somehow lost on her. The joke was that she misunderstood his status, not his gender. But the writers decided to turn this into a clumsy attempt at a trans narrative and they either fucked it up or the Disney higher-ups vetoed it, so instead we got this weird atonal mess.

Anyway, Star VS The Forces of Evil is actually a really good cartoon, but this is easily its worst episode.

(also, if you're going to put Jessica Walter on your show you owe her a better script than this.)

gmol - 2018-01-14

Transactivism is mainstream, it could be that higher ups are the ones that asked for it to be shoe-horned in.

Xenocide - 2018-01-15

Either way it's a shame. If this plotline had been better thought out from the start (and maybe actually have like, a single trans person on staff to run these ideas by) it might have actually turned out to be a nice bit of representation.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-01-14

I should add that I submitted this because of the many conservative rage tears flowing over Disney corrupting all the youth.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2018-01-14

Literally no one under the age of 70 is offended by this, other than by perhaps how stupid and uninteresting it is.

The complete lack of potential offensiveness is rather offensive.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-01-15

You don't think there are conservatives complaining about gay or trans messages in children's programming? Really?

StanleyPain - 2018-01-14

5 just for the usual dql and crew tears/one stars.

Chicken the Did - 2018-01-15

Have some stars because I'd like to help.

Cena_mark - 2018-01-15

It's no Steven Universe, but Star Vs is a great cartoon with great progressive messages. You can't even try to do a message like this without ruffling feathers from both sides. This is awesome.

BHWW - 2018-01-15

I really can't even be bothered to one star this, but I would for the horseshit style alone. Most kids' animation these days are mild variations on CalArts textbook bullshit that are about as aesthetically pleasing as putting Colorforms on a transparent sheet and moving it in front of a camera, much like how most animation for adults these days is either ugly lazy scribbly nonsense or what looks like the bastard offspring of Family Guy character designs and GoAnimate.
