I wasn't too surprised, but I liked Shawn of the Dead. THAT one surprised me, but I've been a fan of Edgar Wright ever since. Really wanted to check out Baby Driver and was having a beer before catching it at the cheap place when I read the news about Kevin Spacey on my goddamn phone.

I thought it might be mildly amusing, given the tired premise. But holy crap, the folks involved really made something wonderful out of a bunch of stupid comedy tropes.

Baby Driver was pretty mediocre, I thought. You didn't miss much.

I knew it revolved around a Jon Spencer song so I just walked around and listened to Pussy Galore and sobered up. I'll probably see it eventually; I honestly don't believe anyone on the set was "in on" Spacey's pedophilic behavior like it may have been with others he's worked with (Bryan Singer, Seth MacFarlane, probably the guy who wrote and/or cast American Beauty, etc.) and while it'd be cool for the role to be edited out and/or re-shot like the other supporting role he had was, but at this point it won't be any weirder than nearly anything else, from Futurama reruns to.. uh.. Star Trek reruns I guess.

Setting aside discussion of Spacey's horrific exploits, Hot Fuzz is probably my favorite Edgar Wright flick so far. I'd gladly pay to see Hot Fuzz 2.
