I've known a lot of hoarders over the years, as well as a fair number of pseudo-ascetic "I need nothing" clutter free types (usually IT drones) and I'll take hoarders over the other kind any day. Sure they have their issues, but the "simplicity" types always seems worryingly far down the "people who might slit your throat in the night" spectrum, and they certainly aren't any healthier than hoarders any more than anorexia is healthier than obesity.

My mother's house has a large collection of the stuff she's made as an artist, and art from her friends she made as an artist. Due to medical problems she's very limited by what she can do, so her collection is mostly complete at this point. The result is a house that is also not totally dissimilar from an art gallery. It's a nice place to see.
