I get the feeling Shens biggest problem is that he listens to and interacts with his community too much. He also considers what they say and ends up sort of paralysed, trying to keep all these 'internet people' happy. He should just make whatever comics he feels like and learn how to deal with the feedback.
I was an architect and now make games. If you take everyones criticisms on board you will end up with a designed by committee clusterfuck.
* You should only even look for feedback for certain things, and at certain stages where you have determined that you want it.
* Use it as a source for good ideas to steal.
* Use it to resolve decisions where you (and your metrics) are ambivalent.
* Use it as a sanity check.
* Apart from that ignore it, you are the designer.
