POLL: Motorcycle people or Horse People?
Motorcycle people are pretty bad (though this actually looks like wholesome fun), but horse people are worse... no contest.
It's not even close. People's experiences with horse people, I think, generally barely scratch the surface of the scum-fuckery that goes on in the horse community. Motorcycles are inanimate objects. When motorcycle people act shitty, you go "oh man I hope they don't have kids" and get on with your day. When you see a classic, semi-rare motorcycle that's been mistreated in some way, you go "that's kind of fucked they didn't take care of that beautiful machine" and get on with your day.
When some fucking degenerate dickhead brings in 4 gaunt horses for sale with untreated hoof problems, back problems, and 5 years behind on their shots... then buys 5 healthy horses at the same auction... and then comes up to the window quibbling over a $1 misunderstanding on a case of dewormer medicine they bought at a 90% discount... it's no contest, man.
Horses > motorcycles
Horse people < motorcycle people
Centaurs > antrocycles
Another thing that was shockingly common was people would buy a horse, and then not pick it up for weeks and then refuse to pay upkeep. The final portion of the sale was always "here is shit people bid on and then either never paid for, or never picked up and we couldn't reach them, and we've held this property here the legally mandated length of time and are liquidating it."
The yard has a commercial-sized barn to house animals during the sale, and it's expected that some people won't be able to transport their purchases the day of. Animals are fed and cared for while waiting to be picked up, and the fee for it is extremely reasonable... far less than you'd pay for long-term stabling at businesses that specialize in that. It wasn't uncommon for someone to show up 4 days after a sale to pick up their horse and then FREAK OUT because they had to pay twenty bucks or whatever feed and storage fee, as if we'd just assume a horse that was left in our care for 4 days shouldn't be fed if it costs someone money.
at least motorcycle people don't leave giant wet dumps in the middle of the road (usually)

Sorry for my rant. Working at that place was a huge eye opener. It's shocking how some people treat their pets, ostensibly non-human members of their family.
The corporate beef guys, by comparison, are all professional, understanding, and actually give a shit about the condition of the animals they buy and sell. Healthy and cared for animals improves their profit, and they are subject to stronger protection and welfare laws.
Reply meant for you, see below.

In my high school years I worked at a stable that hosted auctions and competitions. Here's a hearty, unequivocal middle finger to horse people. Everything from their rotten ways to save a buck, all the way down to those creepy fucking Breyer toys that they shower their kids with is just gross.
Also fuck horses. I wasn't fond of them when I started, but grew to like one geldings that was under my care. He was my horse BFF. And then one morning while cleaning his stall, he decided it was time to kick the shit out of me. So fuck you Coosa, or whatever the hell your name was. Hope you're zoo-food by now.
