I mean, generations are a bullshit construct with very little basis in reality anyhow, but if you're going to blame a generation, maybe start looking at the generation that gave us people like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Breitbart and the upper management of every tech giant, and modern right-libertarianism (although the hippies had a hand in that too).

On a personal anecdotal level, the most progressive people I know tend to be over 70 and the most reactionary tend to be between 45 and 60. Millenials I encounter tend to have more ideologically in common with boomers than with anyone in between.

But yeah, t's abot time we had some generational shift in government, and I hope people in their 20s actually have a political voice finally, because of the stuff I was jsut talking about.

Even though millenials are also the demographic giving us a lot of the literal nazis who have been popping up these days, so who knows.

Anyhow it's a moot point because Anthony Kennedy is retiring so we are pretty much fucked.

I never got the Bernie crowd pushing the "everything will be perfect once we kick out all the old white dudes" narrative, while at the same time championing Bernie, the oldest and whitest dude of them all.

Sorry, that's just a stupid narrative. The whole outsider for the sake of outsider worship is how we got the tea party and Trump. Also stupid is thinking this is a generational thing. There are plenty of Scott Walkers and Paul Ryans proving that typical Republican shittiness extends far beyond Boomers. There will always be new generations of shitbags.

Even stupider is thinking that the problem is existing Democrats not being virtuous enough and focusing on replacing them instead of kicking out Republicans. The Brand New Congress sentiment is why I have no confidence that things will get better. I don't think 2018 will see any major "blue wave" changes (a couple representatives at best, zero gains in the senate and possibly a loss), and 2020 will have a repeat protest vote that keeps Trumps aboard.

Which will let Trump place a THIRD supreme court justice when Ginsburg undoubtedly retires or croaks within the next 6 years. Holy shit are things going to get bad.

Nom, a lot of it is that the current journalistic establishment is people whose parents were boomers and whose children are Millenials, of course their narratives will be driven by bitterness about Boomers holding on to power and fear of millenials replacing them. Midlife crises are never pretty.

It's nothing to do with that. It's just a lot easier and cheaper to sit on your ass and opinionate and when you bring in some asshole fuck you know is going to introduce DRAMA! then that shit is ratings gold and you can sell catheter commercial time like mad. And the supply of asshole fucks is endless.

Seriously the worst thing that ever happened to America is for-profit "news". It provides nothing but a disservice to the populace and the populace willingly laps it up as entertainment. America, to the detriment of an entire planet, has become a fucking reality show.

I've got about 3 years in my new career field before I qualify to apply for skilled worker resident visa in Canada with a path to citizenship.

This country is circling the drain and only the rich get to sit on the rim to watch it.
